How Do You Mount Your Fire Extinguisher?

It cost $350 for kit. I added an extra nozzle or 2. Plus in the engine compartment, I put braided line for ease os install and looks. The an fittings were a hefty price but worth the extra assurance of working when needed. https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productdetails.asp?RecID=3431

How Do You Mount Your Fire Extinguisher?

Done, I went out and and turned a bunch over a few times after reading your first post, all the trucks, Jeep, wifes SUV, etc.. any advice where a life and property can be saved is GOOD! My Jeep onboard system is liquid AFFF, so it does not become "charged" until Co2 cartridge is punctured. The...

    Offroad tool kit

My gear is only slightly better than britklr............lol My favorite item and most used is the canvas tarp. it makes a great drone landing pad and a super lay down/on mat. The families favorite is the wool blend blanket. Has kept a few bodies warm in our safari topped CJ

    Offroad tool kit

Pipe wrenches work and tend to bite hard. I recently bought a irwin quick adjust pipe wrench to pack along. it handles nice but verdict is still out on real time use.

    Offroad tool kit

The ironic part is it is usually someone else who needs the guy with the welder. Welding comes with it's own set of support equip. A grinder and some scrap are usually handy. A cordless sawzall beats a hacksaw any day. LOL I've welded u joint caps to broken yokes with sucess before, you never...

    9MM Pistol for bear protection?

^^^THIS^^^ Shooting paper at an indoor range will not match real world situations. Probably the best practice/training can be had on a dueling tree. It causes you to focus on 6" while other 6" paddles are moving back and forth.

For those that carry Guns and Overlanding

Short but true story from last year. Last day of our sierra trip. We are headed out to a spot we had been before to look at pollywogs (that were growing by the day). We had been to this spot once before early in the trip. Both my wife and had been carrying the whole trip. The last day I decided...

    Allpowers foldable solar panel Q

I have a couple of panels rated at 20w/18v with a usb output (5v). In a recent build, I took the connector block apart to change output wires and found the usb simply had a resistor inline to choke voltage to 5v. I left it in but will not use it just the 18v output is what I use. I have used...

    Solar powered 12v, USB, 110vac and a VHF/UHF radio

Haha!! Hey, I put a thumb throttle on my gear shift. It helps in those seat tearing situations. I think a person who learns on stick (or at least has one vehicle with stick) will have better instincts in bad or quick situations. On his first go cart (chinese poo), the pedals were labeled "GO"...

    Solar powered 12v, USB, 110vac and a VHF/UHF radio

I have three of their battery chargers and never had a problem. My local hardware store (McFadden Dale ind. hardware) carries them, so i now have two inverters also, one hard mounted in my truck that is a 1000/1200w and now this 410w inverter. The chargers are pretty tough. I have one on wheels...

    Solar powered 12v, USB, 110vac and a VHF/UHF radio

Thank-you, we did have fun. We are headed to Northern Az tomorrow. We will bring it with us and he can play with the solar and charging ports. I suppose I should bring my EMF meter and see what the reality is. The antenna will always be mounted above 6' high, but a quick scan will let me know...

    Solar powered 12v, USB, 110vac and a VHF/UHF radio

It would be a total loss, not one would sell. LOL If it was not a summer project for my son and I, it would not have happened. The radio was free, except the separation kit, antenna, antenna mount, bulheads, etc. That saved $500, My preference would be a Yaesu FTM-400XDR. I would imagine parts...

    Solar powered 12v, USB, 110vac and a VHF/UHF radio

I'm going to attach these photos direct and not use photobucket, they are getting weird. I think my email was hacked through them. So, it's 99% done! Tomorrow I will wire up solar panels and 12vdc charger. All works as planned and is very modular. Should last a lifetime. Maybe next battery(s)...

    Solar powered 12v, USB, 110vac and a VHF/UHF radio

Used a 12 pin duetsch connector to link to and bottom panel. All the parts are in, so just time. I will label the ports/plugs/switchs/fuses using our Dymo tape label maker. The labels are made of polyester so they are durable. Once the two panels are linked/wired, we will work on the solar...

    Solar powered 12v, USB, 110vac and a VHF/UHF radio

Gotcha on the Acorn nuts. Plus they look cool. The panels were cut on my CNC plasma table. I have a full fab shop to maintain my Automated weld company, the bonus is I get to play with some cool tools.
