2018 update to my WH(WK) build

Thanks both, I'm looking forward to getting out and using it as soon as possible. Today I decided to face the some of the grottier jobs underneath, including the long overdue replacement of the leaky transmission cooler lines. I've had a set of new ones for over a year but have been putting off...

2018 update to my WH(WK) build

I spent the weekend and the last couple of evenings refitting and tidying up some details. I had previously used tie down straps to hold the waffle board parcel shelf frame in place, but the straps tended to get in the ay of storage space, so I decided to add some M5 clinch nuts to secure the...

2018 update to my WH(WK) build

I've now painted, varnished and assembled all the parts ready for installation. But in my eagerness to get it finished I think I have overlooked a small section of the front slide that needs to be trimmed out to clear the table hinge!

2018 update to my WH(WK) build

It's been a while since I last posted but since prepping my WK a couple of years ago for a Pyrennese trip I’ve been really happy with the way everything has performed. The only area of disappointment was not having a proper fridge. The electric coolbox is fine on cooler UK camping trips, but...

    Two Days in Yorkshire (UK)

It's been a long while since I posted anything here, and haven't got time for a full report, so just sharing some pics from a trip up to Yorkshire in the Jeeps. We only covered a few of the trails around Pen Y Gent and the Pennine Way, but it was just the sort of trip I like, where trail is...

    Build suggestions

As the owner of a near identical GC, i totally agree with this. The standard vehicle is more than capable of dealing with the sort use it sounds like you have planned. I have just added some underbody protection but kept the stock ride height and wheel/tyre size, allowing me to keep the spare in...

WH (WK) Preparation for the Pyrenees

Thanks FNGfromLA, nice to know we may have inspired you to hit the road. These will probably be the last set of pics, but I may post up some of my dash cam footage once I've been through it. There were the occasional obstacles to deal with along the way A view from one of the campsites...

WH (WK) Preparation for the Pyrenees

Thanks lumpskie and Scott. Being a keen photographer is a bit of a frustration at times, as you have to decide whether you are there to take pictures, or to actually just enjoy the experience. If you are not careful you can end up not doing either with any satisfaction! Regarding the 'story'...

WH (WK) Preparation for the Pyrenees

Thanks guys, it really was a fantastic trip! The Renegade was running GoodYear Vectors. They're really just 4 season M&S SUV tyres so not really off road spec., (oddly spec'd for the Trailhawk) but I'd expect even a road tyre have coped with the trail where we actually got the flat - I've...

WH (WK) Preparation for the Pyrenees

Yes indeed KojackJKU - I've pretty much got it all straightened out and painted now - there'll be plenty of others in future I'm sure. Its all part of the adventure! I may get around to doing a proper trip report in the relevant forum but in the meantime here are some pics from the trip with a...

WH (WK) Preparation for the Pyrenees

Thanks AggieOE, the mount worked really well out on the trails. Sorry for the lack of pictures, I returned to find may hard drive had failed on my main photo editing machine so had to restore that. I also spent last weekend fixing the ding I put in lower half of both drivers side doors and...

Request for Advice from Africa! Clunk / Thump when switching from Park (WH CRD)

I would check the front diff mounts/bushes. There are three of them and its common for them to wear and allow the diff to move when taking up drive, causing the symptoms you describe. I had this on my 2005, changed the diff mounts and all was well again. Here's some pics of the job...

WH (WK) Preparation for the Pyrenees

This is a bit of a retrospective post since we are now back from the Pyrenees, having arrived back last Saturday. I'll post up some pics and a summary in the trips section but in there was a bit of an issue that nearly scuppered me at the last minute... About a week before the departure date...

WH (WK) Preparation for the Pyrenees

Did a few more jobs over the weekend. Finished off refitting the repainted bumper, and took the opportunity to alter the angle of the driving lamp brackets which were generally 'shooting' too high when the lamps were on the maximum downwards adjustment. I also mounted an external CB speaker...

WH (WK) Preparation for the Pyrenees

Its only a month now until the off which means only about 4 weekends of prep time left. I knew a major service was due around now and had planned to do a full fluids, filters and plug change anyway, but whilst checking all my paperwork I discovered the Jeeps MOT (annual safety and emissions...

WH (WK) Preparation for the Pyrenees

Hi Matt and Kenaero, The bags are cheap boot/trunk organisers from Aldi, but I'm sure something similar is available stateside. I don't seem to be able to access the US Amazon site at the moment but the UK site seems to have various options...
