I had planned on a bit of photography this weekend at a trials event, but that was cancelled due flooding, so thought about going out and getting some camera mount shots from the Abarth, but decided the weather was too grotty for that so set out in the Jeep instead.
Yes ZMagic, the Renegade (at least in Trailhawk spec.) seems more than capable for getting about off-road in stock form. I also think it is much more acceptable to have a less aggressive looking vehicle when out and about on the trails, given the amount of negativity (sometimes justifiably)...
Thnaks jgaz, I was surprised how well they blended in after they were painted.
We had the two Jeeps booked on a navigational green lane exercise followed by a session on the off road corse at the local Land Rover Experience Centre. But the organisers had to cancel due to the amount of rain...
Well my trip to Mull was not quite a relaxing as I had planned despite none of our ‘crew ‘ actually competing in the rally this year. I had packed a load of camera gear with the intention concentrating on some photography, but we ended up marshalling several day and night stages including...
Thanks Grassland, I Iike to keep things fairly stock and simple these days and concentrate on things that make a trip more comfortable, enjoyable and affordable.
Over the last 3000 miles (including the Alps trip and some enthusiastic driving around Mull I'm showing 36.1 mpg, which is a vast...
Thanks for all the positive comments and sorry for the lack of response or updates; work has been really hectic for a few weeks. But I'm finally getting a break for a few days so setting off early in the Jeep tomorrow morning up to the Isle of Mull for a bit of motorsport and wildlife...
Thanks jbeer. I made up the rest of the parts for the other side plus another set for my brother's Jeep as he had been searching for brackets too. I've got them all welded up now apart from the cappings on the down tubes. Once that's done they just need a few details tidying up then painting. I...
Spent some time today refining and minimising the shapes of the various parts of the lamp brackets.
Trimmed the main mounting plate down and added a hole for the rubber seal.
Also added a fillet where the plate meets the bracket for some added strength, and a tab for to top lamp steady bar...
Thanks jgaz, it was a pretty tiring week. Pretty much we would hike up a mountain immediately we arrived anywhere after several hours drive!
I've been using the car as a daily driver since I've been back and the normal UK summer climate (rain) did a reasonable job of washing off the worst of...
Thanks Brian, the kitchen and fridge arrangement worked out well on the trip. Speaking of which here are the last few pics; a hike up to walk the Aspi-Titter suspension bridge above Bellwald in Switzerland.
Thanks zb, here are a few more, before the last few from a bit of hiking in Switzerland....
After all the dust and sand of Monte Jafferau we headed back into Tignes, France and gave the Jeeps a well earned rest and took the funicular and cable car up to the Glacier Grand Motte.
Whilst waiting...
Some more pics...
Lunch stop off on the way up to Monte Jafferau
At the base of the fort.
A Hungarian Land Cruiser and various Swiss and German bikers were up there too.
On the way down.

Top of the Col De L'Iseran on route between Val D'sere and Col De Sommeiller over the border in Italy. Plenty of touring bikers enjoying the route too.
We travelled the first few Km's of the dirt track of the Col De Sommeiller as far as the cafe at the...
Sorry for the lack of updates things were pretty busy on the run up to my trip to the Alps, and I've just got back. I've not got time for a full report but I'll post up some pictures.
Here are a few to start with from Tignes where we spent a couple of days after an overnight top in Reims on the...
Spent a couple go hours today making up a mount for the CB. After some deliberation I decided on a steel wire frame to act as a mount and provide a bit of protection.
Bending up the frame.
Adding some mounts for the CB.
Another trial fit, and the addition of a mic holding bracket...
