looks great John
although is white the standard color or is ATW looking at making it a tad more stand outish with color or decals
its not a critisism but in white it kinda looks like a high tech prisoner transfer truck
just a thought
I gather your Mt Compass is Mt Compass SA
sometimes its hard to tell as alot of expo users dont provide names or locations to their profiles
anyway if your in OZ try Soltoggio Bros in WA
its better than bunnings
it has heaps of spares and a yard full of wrecks on their lot
whatever your after...
There is a publication called "camps"
http://www.campsaustraliawide.com/
it is updated every couple of years and lists all the free and cheap camping spots around the country
for our travels with or without van in tow its our bible
we pick a destination and plan a route based on distance and...
You'll have to pass the initiation first :victory:
BTW Alan just looking at your shots am i right in assuming the whole chassis and fittings are held together by tac welds ?
you might have to have an expo working bee
where everyone brings along their mig welder and we all get a section of truck...
No such thing as bad welding - THINK GRINDER
just a tad worried that us players who do alot of welding and fabrication have such bad eyesight
in my case its not so bad
but Alans whole truck has been welded using those beer goggles
Geez give an old bloke a break
pic was taken with my phone (phones should be for making calls not taking pictures)
and with my eyes I was hard pressed seeing the phone let alone what was pictured in the screen
its virtually the biggest on the market !!
Why is it fitted?
well in my case on the leaf sprung FG in was trying to minimise an annoying steering problem
Did it work
pretty much
The tough dog RTC damper is the go
although Ski freaks install was done by ATW as part of his suspension upgrade
I installed the same damper on my fg using a bracket i whipped up from some 10mm steel flat bar and some inventive gusseting
if your interested ill try to dig up and send you the...
John if my memory sserves me correct in the early days Ducati electrics only came good once they started using japanese electrics
prior to that a good days ride on a duke was one when you didnt have to push it home
WRT the Fiat I looked at the 2wd version as a tow vehicle for a mates 5th...
when you get out of the cab to pump the tyre up you say, geez its hot, or geez its cold
BTW alan what are you doing indoors playing with computers when you should be out in the shed welding up that chassis ???
Iver spent many a year working in the amphibious arm of the ADF and although some of these vehicles look great (mind you in camo your not supposed to see them )
I know one thing for sure. WRT major capital assets they dont dispose of them because they're in perfect condition
this isnt to say...
Talk about ironic
so far weve driven down the east coast, accross the bottom, up to darwin and back again, thousands of kilometers of ******tty rough dirt roads and never suffered one puncture
in fact the only time ive touched the tyres is to check the pressure
so today we have to go into town...
Gee thanks Adrian
by the looks of it our plans are as follows
buy a house and sell the van, pointless having a caravan thats a home parked next to a house
probably look at selling the body off the truck and building a custom flat bed followed by a slide on camper
work for a few years to pay off...
bit of flat bar and a light touch with the welder
instant locator lug
just go easy on the amps
and while your at it might aswell weld a hinged locking bar above the filler cap
keep the diesel bandits at bay
Hi Adrian
looked out for you as we went past exmouth on our way south but you'd obviously mooved on :)
my tanks have a locating block on the bottom which sits in the J bracket to prevent the tank from spinning or creeping
would have thought that was standard
