So, a quick update:
Most of the interior is back into the cab. Today was installing the retrofit dual battery kit. The 2012 FG model came with only a single battery. Luckily, FUSO issued a battery upgrade/retrofit kit to bring the battery box up to 2013 standards, giving a dual battery option...
Thanks for all the feedback, I went to my old supplier and had some tubing arrive today. Did all the ends, should go together tomorrow just fine. Still have to build some cable for the winch though. As to swagers, I've used the old Ancor sledgehammer system for a while, never had any issues. One...
Nice AAR Mark, sounds like it's working well for you. Are you running it in Eco mode, or regular mode? I almost never run in Eco mode, even with the light load on my truck. DEF usage is about the same for me, I'm always carrying a jug with me.
Thanks for everyone's input.
I'll go ahead and use the shrink tube...just was looking for another avenue, but I guess nothing else has really turned up.
Well, I'm retrofitting a dual battery box to the FG right now.
It's a comprehensive factory kit - box, cables, fasteners, zip ties, Japanese lunch wrappers
I pulled the + battery lead out, the one that goes to the starter. Guess what? Just a standard crimp on lug for both cable ends. No...
The top speed argument is in favor of the new FG's. I normally run 70-75 here on the freeways, but I've found myself around 80 a few times too.
For most areas, not an issue, but I did want to spec a vehicle that was capable of doing 1k miles on an interstate, and being able to pass sometimes...
How are you going to mount it?
I'm playing around with the same idea, but I'm thinking that since I already have the flatbed...mount to the flatbed, and then if/when I upgrade to something like ATW/EC/etc, sell off the flatbed and trailer together to another FG guy and wind up with a bare...
Looks like Cathie can't make it, due to work commitments, plus our geriatric dogs. So it'll just be me, Friday through Sunday. I might show up Thursday at the KOA for a bit though, need to pick up something in PHX area on the way in. Maybe I'll grab a spot at the KOA, dunno yet.
Thanks for that...
Yep, would have been nice if it solved problems...but not on this model year. As you've found, real information is tough to source...I think lots of it is going to have to come from our community, as usual.
I'm still waiting on a response from the seller, and if one doesn't come by mid-week...
Looks good. How did you do the receiver? Is it triangulated to the frame, just welded on to the bumper, or?
Reason I'm asking is I've still got to design a subframe for my front receivers...and of course I'll happily steal ideas LOL.
I'm thinking that it's for the 2010 and prior series...but I'll do some more digging and find out for sure, eventually. With the trucks that are showing up to the ExPo, I'm sure we can figure out what it'll work on...pretty decent spread of years/models that are going to be showing up.
Current status: seats are in, so are the air lines to them. Compressor is not installed yet, because I'm waiting for the dual battery upgrade to come in. Once I install that and the new wiring, the compressor will be mounted right next to the batteries, supported by the battery box brackets...
