North Face Traction Mule. Comfiest shoe I’ve ever owned. It’s like a tough, insulated slipper that’s grippy on the bottom.

Yup. I saw that. But with a composite box this light you really don’t need a 450 or 550. 350 would be plenty. However the chassis cabs for the 350 don’t go beyond 8 feet I think.

I thought the same. But it’s a pretty big unit! Almost 140 inches long. Not a lot of CNC vehicles with a frame that long behind the cab besides something like a fuso.

Yeah spend 10k and swap in a 6.7 Cummins. If you’re already spending 170k on this vehicle might as well spend the extra 10 and get an engine that actually lasts.

Just discovered this thread. I have a new (to me) 2000 F350 as well. How is the full traction coil over setup working for you? I’m torn between the coil over conversion and an axle swap.

I totally agree here. At least a few people on this forum (@montypower comes to mind) have basically done just this. Bought 2020 F350 XL 6.2L gassers for 40k, thrown 25kish in upgrades at them and had a way nicer version of what you see in this thread.

I mean maybe that truck is worth 35-40k realistically with all of those mods. Camper is worth 30k, maybe. 132k is insane for this.

Different states and localities have different laws around emissions standards. In my home state (Colorado) they are very strict. There is no way in hell I’d be able to pass an emissions check with the delete mod, and thus would have no way to register the vehicle. There’s really no way around...
I agree that it will probably be derated, but that’s nothing that a tune can’t fix. The 7.3 is easily tuneable. As for mileage, yeah we are all just speculating at this point. The 7.3 is pretty efficient for a big block v8 but how bad could it be? Like 7 or 8 mpg?

Yes I agree that the mileage will be absolutely garbage on an F550 with the gas motor. But how much better would the diesel be? Maybe 5mpg?

Hey all,
Trying to figure out a plan for my truck camper build and I was heavily considering a Ford F550 as a platform, inspired by some really cool build threads lately.
My question was around the engine. Ford’s default gas engine for the 450/550 chassis cab trucks is the 7.3. I assume it’s...
