    Old Rovers Too Feeble?

Some very minor faults can be cleared. But anything major enough to prevent the vehicle from functioning (or getting out of a 'limp home' mode) won't clear without a computer tool.

    Old Rovers Too Feeble?

Well if you are going to post that, at least post the reply: But in the end, this was done years ago before cheaper portable computer systems came to the market like the IIDTool. It doesn't matter how many tech's you have on satellite phone when you don't have the computer system to clear...

    Old Rovers Too Feeble?

Guys don't get too hung up on the EAS dump to bump stops. Easy solutions to this problem: 1) get a tool to clear faults like the IIDTool. This will let you temporarily get the fault cleared so the compressor will run (till it detects the fault again). 2. Let the compressor run til it is at...

    Old Rovers Too Feeble?

I see a lot of hearsay in these posts. I've been offroading an LR3 for several years now. The local group I go out with is 90% LR3's. There is usually the token DI/DII. There has been several incidents of the LR3's having electronic issues out on the trails over the years (height sensors...

    Old Rovers Too Feeble?

However, with newer vehicles the basic mechanical parts that are REQUIRED to function to get you home are more reliable. While vehicles like the LR3 have fancy air suspension, computer controlled diff locks, etc that can have issues at times. The drivetrain and engine management rarely have...

    LR3 underbody protection

I agree for sliders and the gas tank. But for the transfer case it straddles the cross member (and has plenty of clearance before it touches the transfer case (like 4+ inches) and the engine has a shorter distance to span between the rails and adequate clearance for a little bend.

    LR3 underbody protection

Thick aluminum 6061. The weight savings alone. But I would do steel for the gas tank and sliders as you don't want any flex at all since it is soo long.

    LR3 Towing Capacity?

Watch the tongue weight though. LRUSA says something like 550lbs, but physically stamped on the hitch is 770lbs (probably North American lawyers got involved). But either way, the tongue weight might not be enough for some trailers.

    LR4 facelift coming

That's why it is supercharged ;) The supercharger will reduce the effect of altitude on the engine But honestly, other than towing at high altitude, the 300 HP in my LR3 is plenty fine for the weight.

Like A Moth To The Flame- My New LR3

Yes they fit without a lift. You will get some very minor rubbing on the driver's front fender liner on full lock. But a quick cut and everything is fine (you actually make the profile match the passenger side).

Overland Journal Project Land Rover Discovery 4 (LR4)

He hasn't answered in this thread - but in the Magazine it is listed. Sounded like some performance shop. I ran a set of Terrafirma's on mine for a couple weeks. The quality was really good. I ended up taking them off because of the looks with my narrow 245 tires. Coincidently they are for...

Like A Moth To The Flame- My New LR3

Using the tank as an air compress has been done. It was much easier on early models as the front of the air tank had a bung that could be removed and an airhose adapter installed - this was removed at some point. BUT the compressor is very slow and overheats. MUCH better to simply buy another...

What size wheels + tyres can you fit on a LR Discovery 4 (LR4) ???

32" will require some work and a full time lift. Frame horn in the back of the front wheel well and the bumps on the front of the rear wheel wells. 31.5 or less won't require a lift. May require cutting the fender liner on the driver's side front wheel well. But I haven't looked too close to...

Talk me into or out of a LR3

Following up on nwoods - Yes get the factory trailer wiring. Easy install, all you have to do is remove the driver's rear brake light and connect 2 plugs. There are usually a couple on ebay for not too much. Then yes grab a ford brake controller and it also just simply connects to a plug...
