The kit includes the silicone for the holes to keep out the rain.
It is a hollow section, approx. 1/2" gap, so it's not really worth screwing through for strength. The reason I say that is because if I screw down to tight, or there's to much force on the load, the hollow part could give or crack.
I drink a lot to, haha. Not during this instal though.
I am going to have to move the holes over, it looks ridiculous and it'll bug me. The holes are like 9/16" so filling them up might not be super easy but I'm def. going to try it. Thanks.
What to do...
So got all set up to mount my load bars on my brand new shell, completely nervous mind you to screw in my cap. I measured things out on the topside of the shell but I never checked underneath where there is a double layer of fiberglass reinforcement that I didn't account for...
Nice looking rig, I have an '08 crew with cap and would love to have the roof rack over the front but not sure if it'll be in the budget. I'm concerned to with the rack interfering with the kayak and someday canoe I need to haul up there.
If I ever am going to buy a pop up, that's the one.
Nice.
I had an '04 crew, just to small for my family. But I liked it. I wanted to do a bunch of things to it but the aftermarket sucks for them and there's not many mods you can do that wouldn't be custom. I guess that's a good thing...??? I know that with the 6 cyl. in 4lo was a beast! Crawled...
Very nice, very simple. Something I would consider doing since it's organized and looks easily enough removable. Looks good. My biggest thing holding me back is whether or not I'd ever use any of the crap back there, I don't ever need recovery gear unless I'm off-roading which as of yet...
We used our truck to go CC for our honeymoon. It worked well, although a ball-joint started to show it's age on a trail so we bagged it and returned to camp.
I traded it in two weeks ago for an '08 Silverado. Thing is awesome. Esp. for my needs with my family size.
Man, someone got the goods! I love tents, I skimped out on "name brand" tent when I bought a large tent, it is good enough but I've already have to re-waterproof the rainfly because of leaks.
I wanted the basecamp 6 but I got voted down by my financial manager. ;)
Not for nothing, but you kill me with these pictures and your set up. I had an 04 Dakota Quad, loved it but needed more room so it went. I love this set up, if I was solo traveling or with just two, I'd be so on board with this rig. Perfect. I know this is an old post but it still makes me...
I would agree with your comment on two kayaks being able to handle more gear, etc. My wife and I bought a Preception Prodigy II, tandem kayak. We like it a lot. However we would rarely ever use it for camping since it just doesn't have the room. The best part about that kayak is it can be...
I have driven an '05 Duramax with the Allison tranny. Very nice indeed but WAYYY more then I need. They had one there, for about 5k more than the sticker I'm looking at. Just too much truck for my needs.
