I feel like Aaron's story nails it right on the head. Trevor is coming back from their trips with some skills as a photographer. That's awesome.
I used to be a bit worried about going on an epic trip with my daughter and feeling like I'd be just dragging her along on something I wanted to do...
Okay, for some closure here, I've fixed my problem with the fridge. And once again, the problem wasn't the fridge but that damned fridge owner.
Two changes brought my fridge back to original operating performance:
Changed my 14ga wire (that ran from battery to fridge) to 10ga wire
Installed a...
Ever since I saw Photoman's pictures from his Northern AZ trip (thread with pics) I wanted to know more about him. He and his buddy took the kids out for an epic trip, I thought. Hiking the lava cave, trekking slot canyons, jumping on sand dunes and relaxing on Alstrom Point, and he manages to...
I loved all the photos, the trip concept, the trucks, the big smiles. Great stuff! At the Expo, I bent John Brasier's ear for a long time about the trip because it intrigued me so much.
Thanks for sharing.
I don't know, K.C. The truck only looks a little tired -- like a blue collar 50-something sipping a beer at The Boar's Nest. Clear coat is worn, the boots are old and worked, but damn . . . he's got your back.
:ylsmoke: You're one funny dude.
We've put on a shell and have a bigger Hannibal tent now:
Had to pull the winch cable one day because there's a problem with the solenoid - won't spool in, only out. Gotta pull the bumper to sort it out. Wanna help? :)
Actually, there appears to be more to it that just some PVC if you take a look at the pictures. Primarily, the center section is clear so you can see the water level. And white PVC will die in the sunshine rapidly, so I don't think that's what this is made out of.
If you're going to go into...
For your criteria, I don't think you need to look at the tent as much as you need to consider the cover. In which case, the fiberglass or carbon fiber Autohome tents are where it's at for ultimate longevity. But you've already ruled those out. They're also more aerodynamic, so if I were to...
Aaron, I loved the whole communal aspect to the World Wide Expedition Day. Thanks for letting me come along, too. Ripping good Mexican food at the close of the whole shenanigan, and a mighty tasty prickly pear fruit, too.
Elevation up there is about 6,000 feet, Nathan.
52 photos are up at my...
So true. Great for camping.
What I was never crazy about was the size of those things even when they're packed up. Partly because it seems like all baby stuff is big; bouncers, swings, chairs, joggers.... makes a guy feel like a beast of burden lugging all of that around :)
Has anyone seen...
They're in California. Originally, I figured I'd not include too much about where people lived in case they were concerned about privacy. "Hey, we travel a lot! Here's our address!" But Nathan did tell me that I should ask for more background on that kind of stuff. Noted and will do...
In my quest to talk to families who "do this stuff," I'm finding some really fun parents, bright kids, and impressive stories.

You know Nathan as nwoods, and he posts some fantastic photos. What you might not...
You stated it just right, Rob.
I apologize that my post gave you the wrong impression, or that I just wasn't clear. I was trying to say to Martin, "Thanks, but no thanks." I get his point, enjoy a good rant every now and again, but his contribution took us down a path that I didn't care to go...
Thanks for the answers everybody. I want to respond so them all.
Martin, I enjoyed your rant to a degree, but I don't necessarily agree. I think most of us here value the magic that happens to us as we roll on down the road to some place new, far-off, and with a great view. We want that for...
