MB 1120 Coming to America! Purchase, Build and Now Travel!

I think you are right. GM also has a similar one made by Pollack. I am guessing though I would need to use a step down converter from 24v to 12v with either of these. Not sure how durable these are as I have seen complaints about them on various forums. I have also stumbled onto this...

MB 1120 Coming to America! Purchase, Build and Now Travel!

So, it looks like I finally found our second 50 gallon fuel tank and will be picking it up on Friday. Since metal work will hopefully be starting mid next week I might as well throw this into that project as I need to fabricate some spacers (like the front tank) out of some rectangular tube. Now...

MB 1120 Coming to America! Purchase, Build and Now Travel!

Probably a good idea. Due to a limited budget and time the front mounted winch is on hold. I am sure we will make mistakes, just got to be careful not to make any that would hurt someone. I have applied for the overland east show in the diy build area. Have not heard back yet but we might attend...

Good luck and hope it all works out. My usual tactic with things like this is to be kind with the officials but keep on asking them to help to make it happen. Has worked great for me in the past. Next time we hear from you you will have popped a bottle of cava to celebrate!

Gasoline vs. Propane appliances? Which is a better way to go?

If you are looking for propane anywhere near an ocean, ask around where you see sailboats tied up. We filled our American tanks all over the world, though sometimes it was butane. Some modern regulators are set in between propane and butane requirements, allowing either to be used. We never had...

    2004 Pre-DEF Fuso 4x4 Rust Concerns

Rust in older Fuso's was one reason we bit the bullet and imported a truck from Europe. We really wanted a pre DPF truck. We even looked at a 2010 that the dealer said had "surface rust" on the frame (even though it had a DPF) and were pretty excited about it. When we raised the dump body I was...

Looks to be exactly like our truck. With the larger tires we can cruise at 60mph without pushing the truck too hard. If down the road lack of power becomes an issue you can upgrade the engine to up to 280hp with injector/injector pump changes. Mercedes offered this engine up to 280hp from the...

Oh, and one last comment. Buy the best truck you can afford. I think it is cheaper in the long run than fixing one that is not in as good of condition. Also fuel mileage is important if you will be on a budget (we will be). Not sure how to get fuel mileage on these trucks but lighter has to be...

Also, once you convert to single rear wheels the tires will be larger in diameter, so a higher top speed. If my memory is correct, I think we gained 6mph (though my memory is terrible). The larger tires do mess up the speedo though.

The only way is to get the vin from the seller, you can then lookup the I axle ratio in the Mercedes EPC (which I recommend you buy as it is pretty inexpensive and will help once you get a truck). Ours is a "fast" ratio, but not the fastest. To now get the fastest it is about 5k euros in parts.

Can anyone help me with EPC please

Check Ebay, you can get it cheap as a download. Kind of strange how it works, but it does work. Here is an example, there are others. https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-Mercedes-EPC-Parts-Catalog-Diagrams-WIS-ASRA-Repair-Manual-DVD-/251990066258

As far as I know the om366 trucks would end in 17, 20, 24 or 28. There is a member here with a 1224 that just had a bliss mobile habitat built. During our search the LN2 trucks seemed to be a little more expensive than the 1017 trucks (which i think would be a great truck to try and find).

MB 1120 Coming to America! Purchase, Build and Now Travel!

Hey all, had a short break with a trip down to Florida to visit my parents and pick up our ~30 gallon 1/2" welded polypropylene gray water tank. And we have been busy building the last cabinet (can't believe I can say that :)). This one is right at the entrance with wine storage at the top...

    1222 AF manuals?

Are you talking about the electronic one the dealers have? https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2334524.m570.l1313.TR2.TRC0.A0.H0.Xmercedes+epc.TRS0&_nkw=mercedes+epc&_sacat=0&LH_TitleDesc=0&_osacat=0&_odkw=merced+ees+epc . I have one of these and it helps a bit.

I am thinking about going with a hinged lift now but this is what I came up with when looking into the vertical rail design. https://www.pbclinear.com/Products/Cam-Roller-Technology/Hevi-Rail-Roller-Bearings/HVB-053-Hevi-Rail-Roller-Bearing-and-Rail

Since this is our first 4WD truck and since we are not used to leaving improved dirt roads we are not used to recovery gear. While planning the tire/motorcycle lift I would like to add a "hitch plate" to the back of the truck. On that hitch plate will be a class 3 receiver for occasional towing...
