What kind of cruiser? Link doesn't work for me. Even if the vehicle isn't salvageable many parts might still be useful for another project. You could bring life to another Cruiser!
No worries! Your goal should be to minmize the amount the fins actually touch each other -- they will naturally -- but when they are so closely folded together on a continuous basis is when they are more likely to prematurely wear. Just look at an un-modified vehicle in a parking lot for...
The ride should be just fine - mine was too - but there is a penalty. From the pictures you posted it looks like you have a pretty steep angle on the CVs. That angle on a continuous basis and with the added rigors of turning and a lot of travel puts a heap of stress on those joints, as well as...
Quite a bit, got them in March 09; which for a month falls after the puniest of months, February. Vince is buying them for his puny FZJ80. If that doesn't work out would you be just the puniest bit interested? The price I'm charging for all 5 is... reasonable.
Well, I don't know about rock...
Not at all; the acronyms are used so often and casually most folks just nod their heads in the vertical plane knowingly without understanding the difference.
Solid Axle Swap (SAS) and Solid Axle Conversion (SAC) are terms (acronyms) often used interchangably. Since I'm not swapping one solid...
It's a membrane that allows certain sized molecules to pass through. I first used PTFE as an artificial blood vessel employed by vascular surgeons to create arterio-venous shunts for hemodialysis. It's essentially the same material used on boots or jackets
You're really going to have to...
Never mind sasaholic. ;) I have 3 CVs, 2 OEM and 1 new Aisen. Each, $ 65.00 or all 3 for $150. I'll throw in a replacement boot and grease. Ask me why...
On the axles. Excuse me, but you obviously aren't on the ExPo memo distribution list which announced that expo vehicles are limited to 33 inch tires; anything over that renders them useless for anything but rock crawling.
Seriously, I'm delighted you're amused and I'm embarassed that it sits...
Thanks! I was surprised to get the call today - the shop's been real busy and I wasn't expecting to see this much done so quickly. Sitting on the springs - the lift pads are a couple inches down.
You and me both mon frer. As soon as those shocks come in we'll test things out and get some...
I have an update... Ballistic spring hangers are ON! ALCANs are ON! TG cross-member/T-case skid is ON! ICON custom built shocks are ON (order)!
Remember the "magic fingers" vibration I mentioned with the FROR T-case mount? GONE - solid as a rock - idle is super smooth! Now if I can keep...
Where is it leaking oil at? At the location where the air line enters? Sometimes that seal can be damaged - it would be a shame to incur such a huge expense for the cost of the replacement of a rubber O-ring.
Welcome to the forum!
Remove the bedliner. I did mine and found wear spots through the paint and beginning stages of surface rust... and that was just within a year. In 2002 I had it professionally shot with Linex. Easily cleaned with water and a little elbow grease. Since then it's held up...
Well... I don't know about low just yet.
Right after the SAC I measured 27" frame to floor - it had a seriously pre-runner stance on the Dakar's. Have to get the rear springs on next to see what we have and then see what we can do to get it a little lower since the front end isn't totally...
Looking really good overall. In addition to the end-cap mod Kurt recommended I'd also suggest looking at rear frame reinforcements for the weight of the loaded rear bumper and all the gear you'll likely be sporting now routinely and then all the other trash you'll be hauling when you take it...
Brief hijack here...
Hey Kurt, you mentioned doing a write-up on the end-cap mod a little while back. I'm going to drop my ARB pretty soon to do just that - refresh our memories and encourage us with a little guidance from "the minds at Cruiser Outfitters"...
End hijack.
Scottn - I'm sorry...
