    For RTT users....extreme cold?

10F is the coldest I've slept...in my former Maggiolina GT. I've done the electric mattress pad and its sure nice on the back side but just another thing to worry about (battery). This year after getting back into an RTT (Columbus) I take 3 large hand warmers...the activated charcoal...

    Toyo OPEN COUNTRY A/T II

Just got back from a 1,000 mile trip including highway, fast gravel and melon sized rock trail use and so far so good. The ATII drifts, in the gravel/loose corners, more predictably than its AT predecessor which is a welcome relief. Although not silent running on the highway due to the larger...

Anyone ever bought a series 100 sight unseen?

Bought mine on fleabay in '04 sight unseen. Although it worked out OK it was a bit exacerbating and something I'd not do again without at least one of my homies taking a peak for me...

    Tire chains?

They must do things differently out here in Nevada and California regarding chain controls...because unless you're driving a 4WD/AWD with snows you have to have chains on chain days over the passes or its a no go.

Handling Rough and Washboarded Roads at Speed

LandCruiserPhil makes a good point. Lower pressure = lower weight carrying capability (all things being equal). Lower tire pressures will generally run hotter. The tire size and your GVW come in to play with regard to how low and how fast you can safely roll... Good info about it here...

Handling Rough and Washboarded Roads at Speed

^ What size tires do you have and is it a near or stock weight 80? The safe low pressure you can run is dependent upon your size tire and gross vehicle weight. FWIW: Letting air out of the tires is important for smoothing washboard. Secondarily once I upgraded to mono-tube shocks with...

    Toyo OPEN COUNTRY A/T II

Installed! Took Discount Tire 3-days to get them (285/75R18). Made in the USA. Took minimal lead to balance. And the sidewalls are thick!

Dust to Snow- another Nevada transit

Nice report! As you discovered one could spend years exploring just NE Nevada and still not get bored! Locrwln, Mrs. Locrwln, a buddy of mine and I did a wonderful explore of the area in late June/early July 2010; one of the most memorable trips of all! If you're up that way again be sure...

    Best Glamping Mat

Although I'm a long time user of the Exped DAM (Down Air Mat) pad for backpacking, etc. hoser relayed, earlier this year, their new MegaMat 10 which I promptly bought for use in the back of my Land Cruiser and now in my Autohome Columbus Variant RTT. Its flat out the most comfortable...

Ham radio location in a 100 series

After having the faceplate to my Icom 208H mounted just below the ashtray/in front of the shifter I moved it, due to not being able to see the display clearly most of the time, to headliner just behind the map light/sunroof control panel. I mounted a metal plate to the headliner 'ramp' and...

    Overland Navigator

I have a semblance of an idea about the big amount of time (and complexity) it would take to write a new map/nav map system. Having said that it sure would be nice to know if Overland Nav for IOS is weeks, months or maybe even years out. We're an impatient lot huh?!

    Toyo OPEN COUNTRY A/T II

^ Thanks! They have considerably more void than my current 35" Toyo OC ATs! And much improved sidewall lugs! Should be a winner for them for sure.

    Toyo OPEN COUNTRY A/T II

^ Toyo mentions on their website certain sizes are a little more aggressive or "Xtreme" model variant as they say. Do you know if your's are the standard issue or the Xtreme version? If this is your first set of Toyo tires you might just be feeling their extra thick sidewall construction...

Anybody seen seat covers with pockets?

I've been using a pair of GT velour seat covers atop my LC 100-Series front seats for the past 5-6 years and they've held up perfectly and fit very, very well. They feature a wide rear/back of seat pocket, outside side pocket and a front pocket which is very handy for pressure gauge, deflators...
