I like the interior materials too, and especially the dash shelf. The entirely computerized system interface makes me uneasy. The third row seems useless enough to be a waste of what should be a bit more storage space.

    Fishing sub forum?

Your screen isn't wide enough for a fishing subforum with me. ;)

    INEOS Grenadier

I like what I see here -- spacious, purposeful, and capable. With the earlier-rumored 2200 lb payload, all of this has suggests a very interesting touring wagon.

The Grenadaier concept really is refreshing. So many new and upcoming touring wagon possibilities -- Defender, Bronco, Grenadier, Tahoe ZR2, maybe a back-to-basics Land Cruiser 300... What a nice addition to everyone trying for so long to make their own version of a Subaru Crosstrek. Edit...

Properly proportioned and handsome--33s make all the difference. But none of the wheels hold a candle to the steelies.

Loosen up, the parts Rover-in-tow comment was a joke. Just like the universal Land Rover magnetic rear bumper that I'm designing for you guys -- it will catch and retain parts that fall off so that they're not left behind.

Yeah, I was gonna ask... How many parts Rovers do you have to tow on these trips?

That's true. To be clear, I have all of the mechanical aptitude of a single big toe.

I appreciate the sentiment. For the record, I've been here trying to objectively assess Defender as a possible eventual replacement for or companion to my aging touring rig. For my purposes, it checks just about all of the boxes to varying acceptable degrees with the notable exception of...

Yes, I have actually repaired my old Land Cruiser with pliers and bailing wire that I poached from a cattle fence gate. The old girl's exhaust heat shield came loose in a particularly rough dirt tour in the northern Gila. And, I kept some extra wire for the future, just in case. Oddly, that...

The difference between the Defender and Rubicon in these two videos is pretty similar to what I'd expect if all other factors were equal.

I'm of the same mind. If it can politely crawl up this terrain, then it's capable enough for my purposes. I rarely encounter terrain more severe than what's shown when touring.

Dismissing the video as biased is misplaced. It does have some value. Regardless of driver experience, it does show some of known performance differences between IFS/IRS (teeter-tottering) and rigid axles (flex keeping wheels grounded) in severe terrain. That's useful to see. And, while the...

This is how I'm accustomed to driving in more severe terrain -- center diff lock, lots of flex, brake modulation with throttle. It works. Nice example.

Still trying to understand this system which I'm admittedly unfamiliar with, and thanks for the replies. Question: Do the center and rear diff locks stay locked, or do they somehow disengage under a certain amount of torque / throttle? I ask because of what appears to be two different...

If I'm reading correctly, the brochure suggests that the center and rear lockers (shown in the dash display earlier in this thread) are not actual locking differentials, but are electronic systems designed to mimic the effects of locking differentials. Is that correct? The bruchere says: 1...

I also wonder how much it will cost to repair the destroyed bumper. That was an expensive little drive up the hill.

We don't disagree -- it's one reason why my tourer is still rigid-axled. In my experience, far less than one percent of the terrain poses 100% of the potential problems, and those problems can wreak havoc on the rest of the trip. I think we all knew that the new Defender's design sacrifices...

I too thought I saw that the rear and center diffs were locked. If only I spoke Hebrew to understand the mechanical settings that were selected, and whether they were functioning properly. This terrain is likely steeper and more severe than it appears on camera. And it's terrain that...
