Pulled rotted-out nerf bars, scrubbed and painted (with rust inhibitor) frame and suspension parts and picked up a set of used BFG Rugged Terrains in 265/75. For free. Need to be mounted yet.
That plugs into the base charger. From prior experience, I can say that it is not he best method. Is it doable? Sure, but you've got to secure the base. Also, as the radio does not fit real tight into the base, you've got to constantly make sure it's actually charging. I have seen replacement...
I had to manually load a driver, but once I did programming was cake. Used a Repeater Directory app on my Pantech (Android) so I didn't have to keep switching tabs and had 45 programmed in within twenty minutes.
More for listening/scanning and whatnot. At their ages they aren't going off on their own. My son enjoys listening to it and the cb, see where the "other end is coming from". At some point soon I'll see if he wants to try the test, get his own rig. Maybe I could use FRS/GMRS radios for the...
Just placed my order. Looking forward to getting back on the air, and this looks to be a cost-effective way to do it. Plus, it'll come in handy on the hikes with the kids.
Radio installed. Have to run power, but it's in. The JVC and storage pocket were mounted to "plates" that fit the factory mounting slots. The screw holes for the front of the pocket lined up near perfectly with the mic clip holes on either side of the radio. A few machine screws from the...
Not a problem. Not a threadjack if it's related. It came with four sheetmetal screws. When drilling pilot holes, if you put it where I did, the top holes will have to be drilled through TWO layers as the panel is folded over under the light. Really a pretty sturdy mount, too. I've regularly hit...
The jamb mount is what I'm using. Mounted just below the left tail light. Worked out pretty well. I wanted to go above the light, but the raised seam in the sheet metal would not have allowed it to sit flat.
I just saw your install in your build thread. Very clean (as was all the work. Is there room for an SWR meter in that spot?) but I lack the "finish" in my fabrication skills. I'm very familiar with the Pro520XL and had considered one, but I want to make this look as "factory" as possible. And...
Yep, sxharr05 in the cyber-flesh. Good to see you over here. Re:liftgate. It's tempramental. Got it open and lubed the latch mechanism and it was fine for a week. So I load up my tools and head to work with the idea of installing my antenna and mount while on lunch. Of course it didn't open. And...
I've got a 2002 Sport and plan on installing a CB in the near future as well as a 2m/70cm ham. I have a few ideas as far as how I want to run them, but I'd like to see what others have done as well. Since space is limited and I want a clean install, my Uniden PC78LTW will NOT be going in. I'm...
