I use lint rolled up in steel wool (NOT SoS pads) but I do like the OP's idea as well. I also carry hand sanitizer for applying fire to damp wood in order to use in a pinch. Burns long and hot.
Another second gen 2500~Sweet! The tow package will include the heavier-duty rear springs (3" wide v.2.5" plus the additional height), bigger trans cooler (I believe) and the brake controller. Odd that it doesn't have the reciever. Also from I was told when I had my gears done is that the Dana...
Nice to see some other DodgeTalk members here, even if they are third-gen guys. :sombrero: Sweet rigs, I just can't justify trading up from my 2nd gen.
Itronix GoBook II on a mount from mobilelaptopmounts.com, as seen in my Ram. My apologies for the poor pic quality. I'll try to get something better once the camera is charged.
I'm considering adding a small solar panel to the top of my truck's cap to act as a sort of a trickle charger for a second battery I'll be adding for small accessories. I'll be painting the topper shortly and was wondering if there is any benefit to a black or white roof. I know about the...
I've been using a Plano XXL box in my truck for a little over a year with good results. It's a bit larger but it holds quite a bit. Of course I'll probably need something smaller if I build a sleeping platform............................

Thanks for the compliment. As far as room in the back seat, I can actually fit back there comfortably (6' 225#) with the seats in their normal positions. Kids are 8 and 4, so there is plenty of room for them.
I too am curious to see where the build goes. I was originally building it as a...
Alright. Since I've been here I've replaced my tires with something more aggressive and a bit smaller to allow for greater suspension travel (the 315/75 AT's were pushing it as it was), picked up an Itronix GoBook II for nav and APRS down the road and just this week added a topper. Plans going...
Also keep in mind that some of us may be new to the whole thing and won't have full-blown expedidition rigs. The thread starter asked to see full size rigs. I was just showing my "build platform". :smiley_drive:
I too picked one up off of CL for ten smackers. OOOOLD one with original box and paperwork. Replaced the gasket on the filler cap, filled and pumped it up and it works like a champ. Like it so much I picked up a "matching" catalytic heater.
I've always liked the IH Scouts, and this thread got me to check out the local CL where I found this fine example:

Not that I'm in the market right now, but damn!
First, no they are not compatible. They operate on different frequency ranges (CB=11 meter, ham=2, 6, 10 and so on). Ham is also regulated by the FCC and requires a license which is easy enough to acquire. It's good for ten years and the test generally runs 15-20 dollars and is given by local...
Certainly some awe-inspiring pics in this thread, whether it be the scenery or the rigs themselves. Hopefully as I get out more I'll have something better to contribute. In the meantime:

See, THIS ^^^ is why I posted here. Many knowledgeable and experienced users to gain information from. I sort of figured the "brush guards" were more of a fashion statement, but I wasn't sure if there was a better quality one I was missing.
4Rescue, thanks for schooling me on the terminology...
