For that jeep, I definitely agree that you will like driving with a smaller and lighter trailer behind you. Have you looked at the Dinoot (sp) Fiberglas tub/trailer? They're really building some good options on that small platform. If having the side boxes, like a utility trailer/bed offers is...
Portland Project Truck Body
If anyone were near Portland and follows this thread AND needs a project, this looks promising: http://portland.craigslist.org/grg/tls/4375129875.html
Its fiberglass, so thats a good start. I like that the forward cabinets are the larger style. Great for a frig or...
Thats fiberglass. Looks like its off a full size. The full pass-through cab in front is rare and with slight mod is great for frig and storage. You could likely give it a diet by creating an all new frame. Those fenders can likely be reversed allowing you two options for axle locations. IMO...
I think most people would agree that the trailer should not have a wider stance then the tow vehicle. This would appear to be something towed behind a Hummer.

Wow, love it. Nothing better than 'in the wild,' photos. I have RTT envy. Maybe it's getting time to form a utility bed off-road trailer association.

Thus far, I have always had pretty good luck finding a flat area to camp. So my most recent version of rear stabilizers has just two settings. All the way up, or all the way down. I then adjust with a few pieces of plywood squares in the back, and level it off using the front Jack. But its...

Poking around the ghost town of Swansea Arizona. My wife took this panoramic shot with the iPhone as I was driving through it. Makes the van look a little bit stubby

We are currently on our maiden voyage with a 60qrt ARB (in trailer). Definitely spacious. My theory is to always opt for what makes the chef most happy on the road.

Mine is even shorter than an S10 ( I thinks). It's off a mini truck from the 70s. The body is 6'9" long x 5'4" wide. My bud just bought one that's 1' longer and should pull great.

Denver tub for sale: http://denver.craigslist.org/for/4342609045.html
At $1,000, its a tad pricey, but it's definitely a rare find. Especially out west.
Welcome. You by no means are alone in your plight that got you to this point. Had I read this much in high school, I'd be a PhD of some type. Nor is your build design by any means off the target. building something to suit your preferences is exactly the point. And I doubt anyone would...
And finally..........
As I concluded the build, I mentioned I was sizing up refrigerators. I splurged over the holidays and bought my wife the ARB 63 quart (I swear it is for her) from Will at Sierra. I selected it because it is somewhat of a lower profile.
We're about to get gone with it for...
