Yeah, it's overpriced...but what's new. I saw a similar rig pre-covid that took a few weeks to sell at $10K.
Oh wow, small world! I remember seeing it on Autotrader! IIRC I looked at the CarFax via the dealer's ad and saw it was from SoCal. Super clean truck. Sounds like Bill is getting good use out of it!
Really enjoying this thread! Thanks for taking the time to share your build and travels.
A regular cab Power Wagon...now there's something you don't see every day! A few years ago I almost pulled the trigger on a reg cab manual trans PW. Still kicking myself.
I like the interior/exterior cabinet idea. A kitchen in that manner sounds like a great idea.
You'll feel like you have a whole new van with your "new" engine and trans. That 6.0 is a great, durable motor. I'm getting 17.5 to 18.5 mpg at 75 mph in mine. Best tank of 22 mpg at 65 mph.:)
I hate rust--live in a rust-free area-- so I really scrutinize undercarriage pics of all the vehicles I dream about buying.
This one looks like very minor surface rust, and really only on the lower half of the frame. I only see one thing-- that bolt at the left edge of the photo--that would...
Sold everywhere in the USA. They are rare, especially in cargo vans. I've only been looking at AWD Chevy & GMC which were available 2003-2015, so I don't know if they were available in other trims. Interestingly, most of the conversion AWD Chevys from that era, such as the one the OP has...
Nice van! Thanks for sharing. Do you find the left side cargo doors a benefit? Or would you rather have the wall space? I can't decide how I'd want mine configured if I was to buy an AWD.
You can, but it would be a used one. They quit making them when the 1500's went away after the 2015...
Is a gasser out of the question for you? As a long time diesel owner (since '84), I'd now go with a gas motor for reliability and cost savings--both for the initial price and repairs. Ford's 7.3 with the 10 speed trans looks good.
With trucks from the last 15-20 years or so (I assume you aren't looking for older than that) then it's mostly a difference of spring rates. You might find a HD transfer case on a 3500 as standard (this was the case with Dodge 20 years ago...don't know what it is now). On Rams, 2500's use coil...
This would make a great RV--my aching lower back would like the full-height entry door.(y) Yay, a floor-shift transfer case and manual trans.
