    1995 Montero SR Build

Scott, awesome write-up. I especially appreciated your thought thread on the 2.5's performance. This kind of depth makes for a rich thread.

Welcome to ExPo. Lots of GEN II enthusiasts here with a wealth of info at your search fingertips. Make sure your spouse gets as much seat time as you do in your great-looking rig, else this is like buying her a fly rod for your anniversary.

    ImNoSaint's Gen III Build

Roof Rack Mod Continued With the varnish set on the planks, I finished the rack install this morning. For the most part everything lined up well to the brackets. I secured them with 8-32x1" stainless steel flat phillips machine screws and nylon-insert stainless lock nuts. I wanted the top to...

    ImNoSaint's Gen III Build

Roof Rack Mod As promised in the Gen III Hour Tour Thread, I tore into the Monty's interior, removing the headliner to access the mounting points for the roof rack and see what I could do to repair the sunroof mechanism. I've considered alternate roof racks but for the time being want to put...

What Emergency Supplies Do You Keep in Your Vehicle?

While cash, a credit card, and a small firearm are probably the most accurate responses for your criteria of urban daily driving, you're seeing that we can't get away from our off-road survival, all of which would serve an urban purpose in the Zombie apocalypse. Under the rear hatch can be...

Got the rest of the lumber yesterday and am in the process of staining and varnishing. Hope to have pics of the completed project up by the weekend.

    Pajero iO build; Okinawa Express

Thanks for the great post. You're good to read and the photos are terrific; great detail in your build projects and great framing in your scenics. More would always be appreciated. And ditto your opinion on the Pelican cases. Can't go wrong there.

    Tuweep to Laugh

Many of the sites in the campground, like the one we had, are far enough from any edge, let alone the 3000-foot one to be of concern. Any visual proximity to the inner-canyon though is enough to be very heightened, the reason why we called our first trip there, Natural Selection in Progress.

    Tuweep to Laugh

It is. From what I could find, Toroweap is a Paiute term meaning, "dry valley." Tuweep is the anglicized version of it created by white settlers. The names are used interchangeably locally, but the park service pays deference to its Paiute origin.

The Trasharoo has become don't-leave-home-without-it kit for us. Besides raising awareness and activity in policing trash along the way, it's a great place to stow lightweight gear. Seen in the pics above, there are two sleeping bags, two camp pillows, two Thermarests and a cover for the RTT...

    Tent Cot turned into RTT

The Oasis II, since discontinued. We've loved it. The tent cot is a great adaptation for an RTT without the weight. The Oasis II weighs in at 39 lbs.

    Tuweep to Laugh

Tuweep is a place that delivers you proportionately. Big earth, puny human. Like her not-so-distant relative, the North Rim, this more obscure Grand Canyon overlook shuts your mouth and opens your senses and your mind. We were there only eleven months ago, the end of April last, to try out our...

Gen III Sun Roof Mechanism Repair

As mentioned in the Gen III Roof Rack Mod post, I repaired the sunroof mechanism that stopped working on our coastal tour to Oregon. As I removed grab handles and other interior hardware to remove the headliner, I noticed how loose everything was (not a single lock or friction washer to be...

As promised in the Gen III Hour Tour Thread, I tore into the Monty's interior, removing the headliner to access the mounting points for the roof rack and see what I could do to repair the sunroof mechanism. I've considered alternate roof racks but for the time being want to put the serious...
