Expo gave us some new ideas and we changed some things around a bit, it was very windy and getting cool of a night time and it highlighted a desire for somewhere to sit of a night warm and dry in much colder weather, so I'm doing something with an external heated room... pics coming soon..
Kitchen galley side works lovely, wifey is very happy with it....and that makes me happy..:)... some minor tweaking (different to twerking) of the layout and cooking equipment, it other than that it works well....main design objectives were, easy to setup, easy to pack up and easy to find...
Finally got my teflon coated 3degree castor degree correction swivel balls in so I overhauled the swivel hub assys, seems to track a lot better on the highway now, and got rid of the slight head shake at 70..
Thanks for that..expo was a lot of fun and really surprised how many people came by the truck and said that they had been following the build.... we had a slight accident with the dogs clashing teeth going for a ball so we actually headed pretty much straight home after expo, wasn't much to do...
While we often don't build these trucks for the money or the glory...it is always nice to get some appreciation in return.. We will be a feature vehicle at overland expo, and just for giggles I entered this truck into the overland expo cool rides competition.. I see that the jeep and FJ guys...
Mounted up the doors and roof and front fenders, just to make sure all gaps etc are good...needs some fettlin...:)... Installed the aluminum performance 4 core radiator and large thermo fan assy...just to make sure there is clearance for the supercharger.
Thanks for that...then you may be interested in my other builds...the defender 110 double cab and the camel trophy build in the stickies..I believe there's plenty of good ideas in the camel build,,
Okay...in regards to the braking system on this truck...since I went with 4 wheel disc brakes I decided to upgrade the rest of the brakes...brand new stainless lines have been run from front to back, I wanted to upgrade the vacuum booster to the later style discovery double diaphragm...
Fabbed up the rear bulkhead in 1/4 aluminum plate, made it in 3 pieces for ease of installation..cross bar in pic will be installed inside to give complete rigidity..all marked up so this weekend is going to be all about pulling the whole roof etc off again and installing the bulkhead and...
I didn't like the positioning of the rear high stop light I was going to use so I went another route...this unit is a running light and stop light combination and is very bright, it sits above the protruding rear lip of the rear window so it shouldn't cast light into the cab when applied...
Really need to get back onto finishing my Argentina truck, already put some serious work into it as it was rolled during the event...this truck actually did the camel courses 3 times during 94 and 95...
Had all 7 rims repainted and installed with the Michelin off road Tyres
Here is how...
I think it was an exmoor brand and is designed to go In the bed of an older 110, I don't think it will be able to stay there all the time as I don't think it's totally waterproof, so I may have the wifey make up a canvas cover for it...or it just gets installed when needed... The back folds...
Test fitted the rear seats I am installing so that I could incorporate a shelf in the rear bulkhead for internal storage that I am installing, seats are a 60/40 lock and fold setup and give plenty of leg and head room.
I also had a rear bed seat laying around from another project, when we...
Being that the roof is going to be covered by the one-piece roll cage I'm installing I wanted something a little more hardy on the roof surface, so i took it to my painter and had it painted with a paintable rhino liner, inside and out, now I paint the white right over top of it and I finish...
Ran into a flaw with my thinking.....Swing away tyre carrier isn't designed for these style tailgates so to make it sit correctly I ordered a nylon spacer block to be made for it, this way it spreads the load out evenly across the tailgate, but majority of the load is taken by the carrier itself.
