For $30K anything can be 4WD!

I've been looking at those trucks for a long time! I think they would work great, and easy to service, real easy to get 300 reliable hp out of and good on fuel. There are a few really nice low mile units at on of my clients yard, if I didn't need a crew cab I'd own one!

Very nice and clean, I'm in the market for the same vehicle! Best thing you did was remove the body lift, they are in my opinion the worst 4x4 mod on the market.

Evans is awesome… Most situations of overheating are only 10-20 degrees more than water glycol mixes can handle. Make sure your cooling system is in good condition first though, it won't fix a plugged rad. We have run it in big trucks, increased the fan stat cut in by 10 degrees so the engine...

Very cool, I've been on the lookout for a Baja Bug for a couple years but they are all pretty much rust buckets up here. I think the VW bug might hold the record for overland miles travelled overall! Even raced. If you have a chance check out www.redbuggy.com, download the movie, it's pretty good.

I think every Jeep ever made is a fine expedition vehicle, well maybe the Compass and the other AWD car they made not so much, but that's just my opinion. I always thought the Grand would make a great family type adventure rig. I have bought a few very dirty vehicles way under value, it's funny...

Sorry for the late reply, you could fabricate new front mounts out of heavier material, and a larger web to distribute stress, that's the best way, or you could just add some gusseting and plate over the existing structure, could add a crossmember at the top of the mount too.

Reinforce the front mounts. We build truck equipment for a living, I have seen those mounts collapse in several instances. The factory box mounts in 8 contact points on the frame, you are down to 3/4, and will most likely be carrying a heavier load. Cheers, Mark.

That basic size fits the back end nicely and leaves a lot of room to incorporate features, Cardboard Aided Design is awesome! What's amazing about having a company that uses Solidworks and AutoCad is how quickly the guys down the line become so dependant on it, they seem to forget how to think...

That cool especially considering the history. That vehicle is the epitome of reliability and simplicity, simple to upgrade, and affordable. Something an expedition vehicle should be!
