Personally I would have installed it to match the Jeep. You can always level the Jeep out at camp, you will almost never park on perfectly level ground anyway.

Yeah I park in a garage at work and the closest one is only 7' tall. Between that and my home garage a permanent rack is pretty much out of the question.

No, I do not own it. I've thought about getting it before but at this point I don't need to carry rotopax. One thing to consider with that bumper is it does not tie in with the tailgate if that matters to you.

Yeah I've seen that with the stock bumper. It would have been a lot more work to make it work with my steel bumper.

Thanks for the tip. I'll have to wait till the rack gets here but it sticks above the roofline a good 5 or 6 inches from what I can tell so I'm not even sure the kayak would come come close to the top of the windshield if I use both support bars on the rack. Maybe I'll try just using one and see...

Well I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the Bestop rack. JC whitney had the lowest price I could find, plus a 15% off valentines day sale, plus free shipping. It ended up being about $100 cheaper than anywhere else I could find so I just went for it. I'll post up how I like it once it gets...

Here is a pic I took of the bumper last night after I got home from work. You can see the scrapes on the paint but really thats it. After I touched it up today you can't even tell anything happened.
