Brad's Consolidated King Kamper Trailer Thread

I should say you had the KK anchored down! I still haven't tried my Kwik Wall kit...but planning to in October for hunting. Good pics as usual Brad!

    Fly Fishing: My first fish

Hey Chris...Dan here! I figured we'd cross paths on one of these forums sooner or later!

Who uses a roof rack and what for?

I resisted adding a roof rack to my '99 LC ever since buying it many years ago. But I succumbed this year and installed a full length FrontRunner Wind Cheatah on it. I immediately noticed, even with very light loads up there, the difference in sway. It was unnerving at first and to be honest...

    Kimberley vs Kamparoo

No action shots...but here's a few of what I do have.

    Kimberley vs Kamparoo

Ali has pulled, behind his 80, his Kamparoo up and over Elephant Hill among countless other tough trails. Having been over Elephant Hill a couple times sans a trailer/my KK I doubt I would want to attempt it with my KK: Weight and length being the biggest issues. The Kamparoo, being 1,000lbs...

    Fly Fishing: My first fish

I caught more but released them as we only needed 5 for our dinner...normally I only keep one once in a while for a treat...but the vast majority of small alpine pond trout out and around here get released by me. Salmon on the other hand: Its "Fillet and Release" :coffeedrink:

    Fly Fishing: My first fish

This Helios is a 2wt that I picked up recently for small fish and backpacking. Its great! Super light, super sensitive and very easy to cast into the wind (for a 2wt)! That's a Galvan Spoke 3w reel...more than I certainly need for this type of fishing ;-) I also have an 8wt Helios I broke in...

Importing them to the USA is relatively easy and painless. On the west coast you can use either Long Beach or Portland ports...

    What radio

Just a note about the 208H. I have this model and like it fine. And although it is a dual bander its a single band display. But compact it is with a relatively large LED readout.

    Frontrunner rack on a 2000 LX470

VisionX Solstice array. I started with LightForce 170's and wanted better wash of light...that led (no pun intended) to the VisionX LED. I need them mostly during hunting season when it gets dark before I'm out of the hills ;-) otherwise for our typical summertime explores they rarely get...

    Synthetic v Steel Winch Line

FWIW my first syn rope, ORO, lasted three years before snapping on a tough recovery event. As claimed, and it was under heavy heavy stress load, it just laid down right after it snapped. Using the MP Superline XD now and it is truly super! I don't miss having to wash the accumulated...

    Frontrunner rack on a 2000 LX470

Yes the factory rack including the roofline rails get removed. FR includes everything you'll need including the base rail runners that get bolted to the roof channels that used to secure the OEM rack system. Just an FYI: I, and others, have had to drill and countersink one hole per FR rail...

    Frontrunner rack on a 2000 LX470

Bought the FR earlier this year and have utilized it extensively over numerous on-trail trips this year with 100% satisfaction. Although the FR is a little more work to install than say an AO...but given AO's are not distributed in the USA (supposedly going to be distributed here sometime) and...

    rod/reel

Yes as long as they are fly rod type casting lessons ;-). Just an FYI: Guys tend to think they can muscle through the cast, while in 'training mode', to get 'er done. Casting teachers tell me they'd rather teach women as they get to casting with good technique much quicker than guys because...

    rod/reel

I'd just get as nice of a 5wt as you can (9'), decent reel with good floating line and start there. I am now partial to Orvis rods. I don't care for their reels but their rods, including the incredible value Hydros (relative), and their line are class leading. And don't discount, as others...

Possibly a spey type fly rod. What type and size fish do you hope to catch?

    rod/reel

Just tie some yarn to the end of your leader for practice casting...and remember to keep your casting arm between 10 & 2. It will take a while to learn how to load the rod so it shoots the line...it will feel like magic/synergy when you get cast it properly!
