I looked into making my own setup and then went to look at an ARB slide. My opinion- just buy the slide and be done with it. I bolted mine into the bed, ran power to the sidewall, and called it done. Everything works as it should and when you consider cost of metal, quality paint or powder coat...
If I have been there before or done a lot of research on the location my shots are visualized. If not I try to arrive early and scout the location before prime light.
I have learned though that I need to plan better in terms of not only seasons and weather conditions but also the angle paths...
I just mounted my RTT on my ARE shell this past Friday. After talking with the mfg and the local dealer I was concerned with mounting directly to the shell. I chose to enlist the help of my friend and we built an internal cage in the truck bed. The cage has support mounts which match up to the...

There is truth in this statement but it also varies dependent on your vision and post process. Grey cards work great if shooting multiple shots in same...
I think it looks better but I would go even further on the luminance. Below is your original and an edited version. Obviously you can get better results with the full size file but it gives you an idea. This of course is just my preference on skin tones without getting into smoothing, noise or...
John and Clark -nice fireworks shots!
Brad- I was watching tv last night and thought about dragging the camera out just for fun. It would have been fun explaining how I got ground and aerial shots. :sombrero:
Brad- quick tip for skin tones. In LR or PS increase the luminance on orange and red. Increase saturation on green and blue - and you should end up with some more pleasing skin tones.
Yes- back seat is not a comfortable seat by any means. Luckily it is only me and my son so the backseat is usually in the up position and I have my camera gear along the floor board. Crew cab would have been nice but also adds a bit of length which would make it very difficult to get to some...
