    DIY Discada "Skottle" Cooker $65.00

What's the distance between the legs of the bayou griddle? I wonder if you can slip a "shelf" over the legs and use a gasone flat single burner instead of the coleman burner..

Agreed mountain house is good. I got an amazon lightning deal for a bucket it’s great to have. The convenience for backpacking is outstanding. For car camping I don’t mind bringing a bit extra though. Cooking real food on an open flame is pure pleasure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Costway Fridge

That's interesting. There's another brand ALPICOOL (https://www.amazon.com/Alpicool-Portable-Refrigerator-Vehicle-freezer/dp/B07B8D42VJ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1547596973&sr=8-1&keywords=apicool&th=1) that seems to have a similar cycling issue (if you read the amazon reviews). There's a...

Fiskars axes? The molded fiberglass handles are super robust. My friends keep breaking their wooden axes and my fisksars is still chugging along.

    Alpicool Fridge/Freezers?

If you read amazon reviews there’s a fairly common issue with runaway temperatures which is consistent with the poor sensor placement that toyman was reporting. How’s your experience been @jrs? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Did some googling, these seem to get high praise. Not cheap though, and it seems the minimum order is on the order of $60-70 usd. Any other options?

Xterra tire clearance test + photos

For my 2nd gen, manual recommends class S chains, which basically means cables. I'm running 285/55/16 which is roughly 33" with no issues with 1.5" spacers.

Framework for Inexpensive Off Grid Aux Electrical

Thanks, I came up with similar math. Point taken about W/hr rating. In the video description, the author notes that he got his cells at a walmart sale at $1/pop. I think at that price is compares very favorably with something like Dakota lithium...

Framework for Inexpensive Off Grid Aux Electrical

That’s a little harsh, no? There’s a whole category of battery boxes called “solar generators”. I agree it’s a misnomer. Assuming each 18650 is 2500 what do you get? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Does anyone have any good recipes for canned corned beef? I tried one with a basic pasta it was mostly good but too salty. @brentdavenport we use mountain house when backpacking, it's way more efficient..but with a base camp/car camping I prefer real food. I'd like to have a set of...

Framework for Inexpensive Off Grid Aux Electrical

I'd love to see instructions for something like this: The video has a parts list, but no battery specs (although 42 x 18650 at 24v is maybe 40amp hours at 12v if my math is correct)?

    why skottle?

I dont have a skottle, and can't currently justify the cost but it seems the low profile and the legs would be very convenient. There are tons of options it's neither better nor worse than a cat iron pan. Cost is a consideration for me.
