Strange. Didn't realize that low range was an option on defenders. I can't imagine spending 50k on a wrangler. That's insane.

No idea what you're talking about. The gvw of the truck is 8600 or 8800 pounds. Which is not much compared to modern 3/4 ton trucks. I'll take pictures of the sticker if you want to debate this.

Modern half tons are far from lighter duty than they used to be. A modern half ton is about equivalent to a 3/4 ton from the 80s and older trucks. My father in law has an 83 gmc 3/4 ton truck. It's payload capacity is only 2900 pounds. That's nothing compared to modern trucks.

You're missing my point :). People have it in there head that having a 4 speed with a granny gear changes too end. It doesn't. The axle ratio is a whole other factor that I did not bring up as that was not mentioned in the post i quoted. Just as people constantly asked me when I installed...
Tundras do not use a slip yoke. A slip yoke is where you can't take the U joint out of the t case. That is what slips allowing the drive shaft to move during articulation. Tundras use fixed yoke. The drive shaft is what actually "slips" Or moves to allow articulation.
Edit. I forgot that...
If it's a stock 81, it will be 10 bolts. Maybe take a picture and post it. You gotta look at the actual lsd to see what brand it is.

The g would need at least 2' of travel for that tire to be on the ground. Nothing stock would keep all 4 on the ground at that angle.
