One of the best and most efficient designs i have seen hands down!
A lot of the Australian ones that everyone jumped on initially have a VERY inefficient use of storage and tons of wasted space.
These guys nailed it!!
That @roaminglost fellas build thread has some sick photos of their bed...
One thing i'll add here based on several real life experiences with friends about towing trailer is BRAKES!!!!
Strongly advised to upgrade truck brakes to be able to handle weight of trailer in the even of a trailer brake failure which is VERY VERY common!
Trailer brakes are problematic, low...
Abso Freaking Lutely!
Funny because my friend that welded this piece (and the radius corner caps) builds some of the top Trophy Trucks and said he enjoys these little one off projects because he gets to be creative and do stuff from scratch, where as the trucks and such are basically just...
Curious on the logic of dual solar controllers and dual DCDC chargers vs just single larger units?
I see this is somewhat common, but I havent had anyone be able to explain why.
Feel free to speak to me like i am 10 years old! :)
Seems like a lot of added complexity, moving parts, and wiring...
I am 99% sure this is exactly what @Darwin did and told me about. I have never heard of this before he mentioned it, but after he did i looked into it and its a common swap.
I was looking at a 3500 as a platform for my build originally when i came across this tidbit
NOTE: Sorry, typo in my...
A little sanding, 2 coats of paint, and a spray of flex-seal (i had it laying around the shop) and it looks OEM! :P
Should be able to put it all back together once and for all this afternoon! Woot!
Again, i am VERY fortunate to have some super rad and talented friends that are down for the cause when things are out of my wheelhouse.
I had cut out the pieces of aluminum oversize and planned to make it a flanged pieced and rivet it on with sealant since me and the 2 homies doing most of it...
Thank you and I agree!
One of my biggest pet peeves is seeing under boxes that don’t match the lines of the rig that look like an after thought, and just thrown on there randomly.
This was a lot of pre planning and design to get it as it sits.
Get everything painted with POR15, let it cure overnight and mounted the boxes once and for all. Everything lines up perfectly!
The hot pocket storage system is now complete!
Woot!
Yes and Yes
I’ve only had issues at one pump ever.
All others pump at full speed
This was well tested beforehand as I learned this the hard way with my last build. It was a nightmare filling the truck (gas)
But…. “Gas” pumps and GAS filled necks are much more sensitive to the rate of flow...
Ok, progress finally!
Got the 2 under boxes mounted thanks to the help of some friends, Mike, Mike, and Andy.
I used some large heavy duty 5/16" rivnuts/nutserts and made some tabs so everything was clean, but also so the boxes are easily removable, with one person for truck repair or service...
Hell Yeah!
Looking awesome man!
PROTIP: Get a Crows foot thingamcjig for a 1/2 ratchet to fit that nut on the control arms, will make your life 10x easier making adjustments.
I had a front dinette FWC before I built my latest monstrosity.
Same deal with the windows as photo above.
It drove me bonkers so bad, I didn’t even install windows in new build until all the seating and such was done, so they were placed exactly where I wanted them so I can see out of them...
Not sure of the purpose of windows (side ones) that you can’t see out of that double as an insulation remover.
Maybe V4 will eliminate those to help with insulation. Seems odd and for exterior aesthetics only ?
Or…. If people are set on having the windows, move them up higher. Looks like...
