Some decent Plano totes at Home Depot

I have often thought of using something like these packers but with the leaking and their frailty I think I will stick with my surplus medical chests. They lock down with 10 latches, handle on each end, can almost drive over them and they do not leak at all. In fact when coming down from...

    Nicaragua Unimog

The emblem being off has very little to do with maintenance of the vehicle. The emblems are secured with smqll bolts and they can break off on reinstall after painting the grille and have to be inserted into an available place that allows them to be secured. It is just an emblem, not an engine part.

Better to Buy or Rent a 4WD rig/camper van

The nice thing about rentals (motor homes) is that they come fully equipped in the kitchen area so no hassle about anything but your personal gear. definitely rent, the cost saving over trying to find a place to stay the night and also having a vehicle will surprise you and depending on time of...

    Heated Blankets

I find that when sleeping in the LR, even with outside temps in the 30s, the inside temp stays from 40 to 45 deg. I have thought about a heated blanker for years. Had one in Seattle to use when waiting for the ferry, can't find it now but it was a large draw for the battery. So thanks for your...

THE OZ-TENT TRANSPORT BOX FROM ALUBOX

Interesting. Couldn't seem to find the price but I guess, based on their other items, that it is astronomical. The OZ tent bag that comes with it originally is too small so I ordered a bag from Drifta out of Australia that allows for the tent and a few of the aux pieces in one place for about...

    Mounting RTT on roof solo

I just watched the guy with the 'A' frame set up, great video. He's clever and funny and built a very simple yet effective design for not much money and easy to store when done cause not every one has a fork lift or a basketball net.

    Unimog museum

Went there on a trip to Europe and on the day I wanted to go it was closed. Very disappointed as it was on my route but future cities were scheduled. Good that you could see it.

    Lr3 rear hatch leak??

also check the top of the seal, often leaves and twigs lodge in the space above the hatch as there is a lot of room up there for debris to set. could be that water is getting in from below where the seal to the winch for the tire is located as you go through water. the light is an obvious...

    Tactical Gear dot com

I think that it really doesn't matter much. Seems like throwing the words Voodo or Tactical on something really helps to sell it.

An introduction to my new LR3

I also put grip tape on the top of my sliders but discovered that when wearing shorts in the summer the tape really scrapes the back of my leg when getting out of the LR, but I don't slide off when using them as a step.

Kudos to "The Last US Bags"

That is a lot of storage, especially for seemingly small items. Sure can tell you like their gear.

    Winnerwell Fastfold Oven

Looking at the link and picture it doesn't look all that difficult to add a piece of aluminum to conform to the bottom to allow it to sit on a camp stove.

What is the top tool for a recovery situation? [Poll]

Don't have a no 1. that is like asking which of your kids do you love the most. With all the chatter I hear about weight considerations it becomes apparent that the more recovery gear one carries it becomes an issue of how good you are with the minimum, the bare essentials if you will. traveling...

    New Defender Rage/Hate Thread

I find the LR3 to be more than adequate for my needs. Had Mogs and Pinzgauers, Toyotas and Chevies and Fords even a Jeep. When the LR goes bad I'll replace the engine. Still be less expensive than a new one.
