As far as I know the E350 and E450 front end is the same. I was curious if a different spring rate was used for the E350 gas vs diesel. Rear springs will be super easy. It's wide open and there's room to move the front or rear perches anywhere since there's no wheel well. Ujoint has done...
Continental MPT 81 - 275/80 R 20 - (10.5R20)
The MPT 81 is the most common tire purchased for customers that spend a good amount of time on-road as well as off-road. These tires are quiet at speed, offer low rolling resistance, and do excellent in Sand, Snow, and the Rocks. In extreme mud the...
I'm trying to figure out what wheel, tire and axle combination to go with on my new E450. I'm rated for 4600 pounds on the front axle and 9450 on the rear axle. Therefore, I'm looking for a tire and wheel combo rated for 4725 pounds. I can't imagine actually ever having that much weight over...
The only option is ice cold AC. In the Motovan I had considered power windows and locks as well as cruise control a requirement. This time around, I decided I'd make it work without it. It's a very rare box van to have those options. Since I only have 2 doors this time, it's not that many to...
Is there anything different about installing your kit on an E450? Do you use different spring rates for gas vs diesel? I assume there's a little more weight on the front axle with a 7.3 PSD. I went across the scales with my new box van and I got 3700 lbs front, and 5400 rear. This was...
They would be, unless you had a desire to live on the road with two full sized dirtbikes in there with you. And since this is a photo thread, here's my Motovan Gertrude with just one big XR650R inside after I build my full width bed loft.

Here's that...
I had wanted to go with an F-series. Several obstacles though. The F350 Uhaul box trucks didn't have any additional length over my E350. They also had either the 460 gas pig or the V10 gas pig. The truck bodies didn't share a wall with the box either, so the pass through is slightly more...
I think that's a pretty accurate summation of what I've been doing with my van and what I plan to do with the box van. Lot's of highway to get to the good stuff, then dirt roads and maybe short trails to get to a campsite off the dirt road. Pothole absorption is the biggest concern in Baja in...
Awesome! I've been planning on doing something similar for a few years now too and I just bought a box van last weekend. I plan to do something very similar to Java's awesome rig.
I have a bluetooth reader that works on my 5.4 van, but did not work on the 7.3 PSD van I just bought. I assumed there was a problem with the port. I haven't had a chance to dig in to it. I'll be interested to hear if there is an issue specific to the 7.3 PSD you mentioned.
I just bought a new van this past weekend to replace Gertrude my Motovan. I wanted more living space while keeping 2 dirtbikes in the back. I also wanted to have an indoor bathroom with shower. It's a 97 E450 with 7.3l PSD, 204k miles, original owners and good maintenance history. It has 6...
That thing is so ************. At only $4 grand you can still take a lot of trips with the terrible gas mileage compared to a $10k van. Also, our newer style Fords won't have that classic look for another 20 years or so.
You will have no trouble with an extended body E350 and studded snow tires. The extra length behind the rear axle gives you some extra weight already. If you get one like mine with a Ford Trak-lock LSD from the factory you'll be all set.
