My new '87 Ramcharger build thread

My plan is to upgrade to 3/4- or 1-ton axles and forgo the 5-lug rims anyway. I like the extended wheel wells that Metcalf applied on his Do-it All Dodge, allowing fitment of big tires. My intention of 37" tires is a bit away, though. The wheels and tires I have now will be transferred to the...

My new '87 Ramcharger build thread

Some time has passed since my last post. I have simply been driving my truck and haven't spent much time because of lack of funds/energy. I have partially removed the rear interior panels seeking a location for my amp and CD changer. I painted up an electrical switch box for use an interior...

Now I have one, too. Now what?

I've wanted a Bantam trailer for the longest time. This one was a USFS unit at some time, painted my favorite color (Forestry truck green), and was converted to a dump unit. The tail was cut out and hinged through the upper portion using some 5/8" all-thread. Also, the tongue was lengthened and...

    Need help, fog light wiring!!!!

The light in the switch will draw your battery down, yes. I presume the switch has three wires going to it? You may be able to swap the connections around on the switch to have the desired function and the light off. There are 6 combinations of connections on a 3 wire switch.

    Need help, fog light wiring!!!!

Patience my padawan. :REExeSquatsHL1: Instead of looking at the headlight switch, consider running your fog light relay using the headlight relay as the switch.

Looking at a new Dodge, help me decide!!! (Power Wagon vs Cummins)

I voted for bacon. That's what I can afford presently. I don't like either of the new Dodge truck, just too much angularity. Some have compared the GVW of the Power Wagon and the diesel. Remember, you been asked to compare a gas 3/4-ton to a diesel 1-ton. This is not a direct comparison and the...

    Gen 1 Service Manual online.

For most of the needs of a 91 Montero, the 89 service manual will suffice. Differences do exist. The 89 has a one-year specific smog setup, distributor, EGR valve, driver's side exhaust manifold, and no lock-up convertor for the trans. The 90-91 are similar to eachother.

    ramcharger build

On a previous Dodge, I installed 3.5" front and 5.5" Superlift softride springs. I was able to do away with the rear block and maintain a level ride with the service body. I used the Wrangler RT-II 36" bias ply tires...they were great in the dirt, but sucked on the pavement. I would like to...

    ramcharger build

I am also planning on 37" mil specs, too, and fender opening trim like Metcalf has done on his Do-it All Dodge. I've already started collecting rims and have feelers out for other parts. Interesting where our rigs are going. :)

Ford Bronco or Chevy K5 Blazer

    Wiring question

Just for the sake of observation, I have used Cibié lamps on my '87 Raider, with either 100/90 (high / low) and 100/55 (high / low) watt bulbs while I could still get them, then later 55/90 (low / high) watt bulbs because of expense. I drove the Raider over hill and dale for about 100K miles...

    Tire clearance question?

4-cyl Gen I Montero / Dodge Raider will take 33" tires with no lift: Your 33 x 10.5 tires will work on stock 6" wide rims and look really swell. I used 33 x 12.5 muds in the first pic with 8" wide rims and same all-terrains with 8" front and 10" rear...full stuff in the lower pic. Russell
