    Hitch-Mounted Winch? Front and REAR?

Of course my Raider has front and rear hitches! Why not? When I was driving her all the time, Roxy received all my Mitsu love, pieces and parts. My intent was to install a winch on the top of the front hitch, as well as use it for a towbar mounting point. The rear hitch was installed and welded...

    Hitch frustrations :(

Reese and Valley both offered a three point hitch that uses the center area and legs out to the bumper mounts. Even then, there may be some shift due to the lever length. Something akin to this, though for a Gen I application is still representative:

New Montero Sport owner with an oil question

I would say that either will present no problem for you. 10-40 for summer, 10-30 for winter? Won't make much difference.

    Stripped oil pan plug threads!?!

Dorman, available at some A/P stores, sells a self-tapping oversize drain plug for this reason.

Bigger Badder Tires with Minimal Performance Loss

The appearance of less slip has to do with contact pressure. A narrower tire has a higher contact pressure than a wide tire. In dune sand this would work against you. I presented links to two 15" tires with a narrow section. You could also hunt down some mil-spec tires such as a 6.5-15, 7.00-16...

Bigger Badder Tires with Minimal Performance Loss

For a daily driver with occasional offroad use, I have had extremely good luck with my 31x10.5 BFG all terrains. On a light Isuzu, I don't understand why you'd prefer the 10-ply LT tires...really stiff ride. Second, I am confused about your statement that rim diameter size contact patch size...

Hello guy, newb with 89swb bone stock and ready to rock

The '89 Raider is a Gen I Montero. If you have a leaf spring rear suspension (4-cyl.), the Montero Sport rear axle on a leaf spring setup is a match. If you have coil rear springs (6 cyl.), the Gen II (92-97(ish)) Montero axle with air locker bolts in. Welcome. ;)

    Gen 1 Vs Gen 2

Ray, I didn't say I wasn't after any additional ponies. Taking our GMC with 5.3L V8 on the same drive netted a 45-55 minute difference (1 way) from one job to the other. I was simply including the bit to say that the Mikuni adapted to the high altitude. However, climbing grades where gravel...

    Gen 1 Vs Gen 2

Until the headgasket blew in my Raider, I didn't have any trouble with the Mikuni carb, driving sealevel (25' MSL in Sacramento) to alpine (better than 10K' in mountains south of Lake Tahoe) in any given day in the way back.

    Gen 1 Vs Gen 2

Time for you to meet up with the AZ Crew from 4x4wire and ride along with their menagerie of Monteros. I like the Gen I SWB for the maneuverability, though mine is a 4 cyl. I've driven exactly 1 Gen II and didn't fancy it so much, didn't like to slalom. Though I have 5 Gen I 4-doors, none...

    So more random questions, lol

There are only two Monteros that I know of with a Detroit. Lloyd on 4x4wire used one in a 90 Montero 2-door, drove that truck to death and sold it for bookoo $$ to a dude in Phoenix who doesn't drive it. Second, Brian (bs on the Wire) has one in his 89 4-door, but doesn't post anywhere very...
