My new '87 Ramcharger build thread

My truck was equipped with a Westin 6" drop bumper when I purchased it, and was equipped with a cheesy aftermarket receiver bolted to the bumper. This was not the acceptable towing equipment for my use. I located a hitch on a D350 and documented the installation above. It hangs down about a bit...

My new '87 Ramcharger build thread

My son helped me test fit the Iron Mule bumper this evening. The mounts that came with the bumper thankfully had the correct hole spacing and only required trimming to be refit to the Ramcharger chassis. This bumper weighs around 400 pounds (or better), and required both of us and assistance...

Hence the quote, no over-reaction...really. :coffeedrink:

Another source of noise removed: For sale, too... Rear sway bar might be more suited for a truck equipped with a camper, but shouldn't have been on the Ramcharger.

    Dodge Rear Swaybar Kit

Just removed this piece from my 1987 Dodge Ramcharger, will probably fit other similar chassis like the W100 - W350 (1972 - 1993) and perhaps other brands, too. Not sure of brand, but under the grime is blue powdercoat. Pics below show the bar, mounts, and hardware, and how it was mounted on my...

    Gas/Fuel TANK replacement

I have a tank pulled from an 86 Montero that is in great condition, from California, no rust or dents. I've shipped other tanks, too...across the country via USPS and other carriers. PM me if this may interest you.

Needing some advice on a truck

The Gen II and II.5 Monteros take a 33" tire with no mods.

My new '87 Ramcharger build thread

The VVRRRRHHHH noise finally became apparent Wednesday night on my drive home. The rear U-joint finally gave it up after about 800 freeway miles now. Picked a pair of joints from the NAPA tree, ready for install tomorrow. I've put about 800 miles on Ryan now, and the PO told me about the worn...

    older power wagons

I'm a splitter with some thing, but a lumper with others. Military trucks have splits based upon their function. :ylsmoke: I contributed to your thread, too...

Good read in your thread. I think the MaxBilt guys actually have an M56, that is my opinion, but would also account for a longer wheelbase.

Questions about 3/4 ton vs. 1 ton....

Realistically, two of the important differences that separates the 3/4- and 1-ton trucks are the GVW and GCVW. Your desire to 'reinforce' the suspension is what? Both the trucks mentioned are leaf spring equipped, pretty simple and very strong. The Ford has a larger crewcab, more rear seat...

Is that Soni's rig? I was just perusing a 1989 Four Wheeler with an article about it. For the '79, I would inquire about the engine, trans, etc., past records, test drive. For the old M-series, my present favorite is the rig Max Bilt has resto-modded: http://maxbilt.com/project-mtrv Service...

This one? Some interesting things are the quad lights (79 & 80) only, the apparent Mile Marker part time conversion hubs... Would need more data.

I'm working on a Ramcharger, presently. I've had a number of other fullsize Dodge trucks, too. Pics are in my thread: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/76292-My-new-87-Ramcharger-build-thread By chance, is the '79 you're looking at the red one in Redding? Russell

Utility Bed Install with Popup Camper

Most guys that out campers on top of a service body use a flat top, rather than a flip top box. Do you have plans to raise the camper elevation and leave the function of the flip top for other uses? I've also seen RTT on service bodies with the flip tops. Is this one of your possible...

    Custom water tanks

Not much room? This is cavernous compared to my Raider. I have a 14-gallon rectangular water tank that I am considering placing behind the rear seat. The tank will be opposite my drawer set and below the platform, plumbed through a pump to my sink. Or, I can build in my 30-gallon RV tank. My...

    Project: Doitall Dodge

When you drove past me on the highway in Durango, headed south near the USBR office, the growl was appreciable. However, the overall appearance of your truck was great. Loved the big tires with little lift. :ylsmoke:

The late model axles are all AAM, like the newer Dodge offerings. I've seen a local Dodge sled puller with a Dana 110 rear axle. http://www.aam.com/Company-Overview/2001-Present-90.html

The yards near me are only keeping the old trucks for a short time before crushing them. I sought a Ramcharger for some interior bits, they'd already crushed it after 4 days in the yard. Sucks!
