Helping out a fellow traveler by towing out his car trailer from Mike's Sky Ranch after a good rain storm. Gertrude is 2WD, but at 25 psi in the Treadwright mud tires and 1000 pounds of gear in the back, plus the weight of the fiberglass top, extended body etc, she climbed up the hill without...
Wanted to add some storage to my barn door, decided to go with an old REI frame pack from a used gear store. I removed the frame and just popped it in place with the top two plastic push darts to try it on for size. I need to attach it more securely to the door but it's a pretty nice fit, was...
Extra flood lights for when the road goes up and down a lot would be helpful. Gentle slopes are no problem though. A big light bar mounted way up high would be awesome.
Big thumbs up for Scott's HID retrofit. I just got back from a 10 day Baja trip and did a lot of night driving. They were one of the best mods I made to the van.
Autoparts store dropped the ball and never ordered them. Drove to WeldTec and helped Jeremy install his full length add a leaf on my van Saturday night. Didn't take before and after measurements but it added an inch or two of lift and rode a little better. Sort of tough to tell since I had...
The local auto parts store could get them here the next day and I have the day off tomorrow so I went for it. I had an add a leaf on my Tundra for 5 years without any complaints. Why would it wear out the stock leaf springs?
Yes that would be ideal, probably a much more progressive spring than stock + add-a-leaf. I've spent a couple thousand on my van in the last month and just can't stomach the 7-800 or whatever for the custom spring pack.
I have a Compustar remote start/keyless entry installed on my van. The warranty was automatically irrelevant if it wasn't installed by a certified installer, so I bought the system and had it installed by a local shop that had good reviews. It was also on sale at the time. It looked more...
So i just checked Rock Auto and new leaf springs are cheap! Even the shipping isn't bad. The different springs have different weight capacities though, how do I figure out what I need? Load the van up and weigh it at a weigh station?

I just took it to the alignment shop. When putting together all the new tie rods, we spun them on the same number of revolutions as the old ones, but it was super messed up and I'm not going to pass judgement on the new setup until it's properly aligned.
