I just installed mine this weekend. Those radius arms look different than mine, the rear bolt on is different. Bolt up design. The only real struggles were related to Ford's engineering, or lack thereof. I used Rustoleum Hammered finish in silver.
All new ball joints and tie rod ends...
That's a great idea since it's going to be weld on anyway. Source the tubing locally to save on shipping and weld it all up locally. The brackets are the only real special piece. It would be great to be able to ship them flat and light. I'm not interested personally due to the way I use my...
You can see where the roof would be hitting the bars if it had a regular roof. If you don't push the bike in perfectly lined up with the wheel chock, you will have to drag the wheel side to side since as soon as you turn the bars they will be jammed into the roof. Or you could just put a...
Get the extended body. They're not hard to find and there is no reason to make life more difficult. I have the EB and I often carry two bikes. I don't think you could fit the second row of seats with two bikes in the van. I would also suggest a wheelchair van or something with a fiberglass...
Great review. I hope I don't end up with buyer's remorse after going with stage one instead of stage two. Can't wait to see it with the fiberglass fenders, I didn't know they were available. Only $400 for the set seems reasonable too. So do the new rear springs feel more plush and...
I would want at least a cab and a half so the front seats would have some recline/incline adjustability. Having a small back seat to toss bags in without having to get into the camper would be nice too.
All these generic sound deadening solutions are fine for the rest of the van, but what about the flame resistance of the materials? How silly would you feel if you layered the doghouse with foam or Thinsulate and it caught fire and ruined your van? I'm interested in some improved sound deadening...
I too wondered how well these work. I went with the WeldTecDesigns kit and Fox 2.0 shocks since even when I'm fully loaded it's not that much weight. It's a one ton van, two dirt bikes and a cooler of beer probably won't adversely affect the ride quality. I think there are some folks out there...
Saw a 20 pax bus parked for sale and decided to check it out. Got some photos of my van next to it. I drooled a little bit thinking of all the space, but I prefer my large rear doors and ease of parking.
I'm insulating the Motovan. It's got additional dome lights built in. The rear door lamp was missing the cover, and it only worked when the rear door was open AND the other dome lights were on, either from another door being open our manual override. While insulating the rear door, I removed the...
Yes 40 is a lot. It's not really based on any accurate estimates. 20 gallons might do just as well. I figure if I'm going to mount a tank, it might as well be of an adequate size to make it worthwhile.
Gravity fed isn't necessary, just KISS. I'll also have minimal time to devote to...
Just having power to the front wheels for sand and snow driving would seem to be enough to keep you moving the majority of the time. I'd evaluate the two vans based on their bodies and which one you liked better. Ecoboost Transit would be my choice if I had the cash. I don't, so I'm in an old...
Putting that weight back there will help with rear axle traction, that's one of the benefits. I'm not certain of where I could put it below the floor, attached to the frame. Being that low would mean I'd have a smaller window for gravity fed use. I can't really put anything on the floor on...
I'd like to add a water storage tank for my upcoming trip to Baja. I'd like it to be drinkable, but will also use it for washing. It would also serve as a traction aid in the snow for my 2WD van. I'm looking at a vertical mount 40 gallon tank like this one...
