    85,000 Mile LR3?

Before you buy it, let off the gas at highway speeds to listen for axle whine. The coating inside the axles can come off and eat up the bearings. Mine did - and nobody ever changed the fluid which certainly didn't help. Control Arm Bushings. Change the fluids and if you see any metal (for...

It's very compelling. Like I said before, my options now coming from an LR3 are a 2008-era toyota (4runner or GX or LX/LC), or a brand new Defender. Or a G Wagon, if you're a rapper.

In case anyone forgot: pre 1995: Land Rover was owned by Rover Group 1995-2000: Land Rover was owned by BMW 2000-2008: Land Rover was owned by Ford 2008-now: Land Rover is owned by Tata. Which one of the above was the LR3? ;) Still hopeful that I can own a Defender. Very hopeful.

Thanks! I'm a structural engineer so I see this from the technical side and don't have access to the statistical breakdown of how this actually pans out in real-life use... but I strongly suspected this.

Speed will not alone determine the level of structural deformation. Remember, it's not speed that kills you, it's the suddenly stopping part. If you roll your vehicle over a surface of compliant foam (heh), it will look very different than if you do over a hard, rocky surface. Unfortunately I...

The Defender got top marks in crash testing. Period. You can't just grab a random photo of a crash and assume that it doesn't hold up as well as an LR3. Crash simulation and structural analysis methods have only gotten better (in a serious way) as computing power has gone up. Thankfully, in...

I'm not sure this is a good assumption. I work in a production environment and while things have certainly slowed down both build and supply chain, there's no direct tie to quality problems (that I've seen, metric based). LOL way to trigger me with the tesla comment. For me it's not about...

    Access Mode Rubbing

265/65/18 Duratrac here. I have some minor things done to prevent rubbing which are well documented on the forums. Keep the air. Don't downgrade the truck! :D There is a ~$10 kit for the valve blocks which fixed the leaking issues for me, but I also plan to do air springs at some point.

Post pictures of your Land Rover.

That tire will fit under the car, no need to run it up top. You can also run a 265/65 for your next set, just a tiny bit of rubbing :) To add content.... the one time I've legit been stuck. Buddy cracked the ice, I went through. Was lucky to be between two rigs, took about 40 minutes and ended...

This is dead on with my experience, without being able to do it back-to-back. Sure, having some growing pains is annoying, but things like great seats and great lights go a long way when adventuring! Can't wait to upgrade.

Any problem running LR3 without cats?

It's not $3000, at least not for parts. Find out what the installation cost is, talk them down to cover that plus the cost below. Done.

They gonna stick lift rods on it like their LR3 then be surprised when its topped out and struggles? Probably.

Manual trans confirmed for sasquatch. I can't personally find a reason for running a 35" tire on the street, but hey, now you can order it with 3 pedals. Rejoice.

Disco II TD5 Weekend Rig "Dexter" - My Overlanding Build from New Zealand

Sweet D2 :) Sorry if this comes off the wrong way, but is there much in NZ to explore off road? I took a trip there in 2015 and purchased a 4x4 only to find out that there was nothing like the NF road system in the US and most certainly no proper camping (I forget what term NZ called it, it was...
