2020 Ram 5500 DIY Composite Panel Camper Build Thread

I really went back and forth on how to charge the batteries while driving. I've used the PowerGate PerfectSwtich dual rectifier isolators without fail in my last builds for close to 20 years. But the lithium aspect added some complexity and i couldn't get 100% clarification i could edit the...

Correct. They just listen to the manufacture of their camper telling them “Just get some E rated tires and airbags, you’ll be fine bro”

It wouldn't be impossible, but it wouldn't be easy either. Would need to be bare bones with a fair amount of compromises IMHO. Just my BOX, empty and bare was around 2100lbs with absolutely nothing in it. I maybe could of gotten away with a 3500 or similar, but I had zero interest in...

Thanks! Hahahaha, as for man hours, I am not even remotely paying attention really. I will say the box assembly itself was the easiest part of the whole thing so far. I have more time into setting up the TRUCK and the suspension than I do assembling the box, by about 3-4x I'd guess.

Conti MPT81 Pressure (and sneak peak at the NEW ones)

Even after talking with several folks directly at Continental and several large truck shops, apparently the only new thing is a little different sidewall graphic design and they had DOT printed on them. I’ve heard (not confirmed) some of the older ones didn’t have the stamp, but it’s the exact...

I was just thinking to myself today, and most days when i come to EP, that they're aren't enough cantankerous folks spreading negativity and never adding anything helpful. Yet here you are...

Yes, I am sure there are, but i didnt know enough about adhesive properties to experiment in the middle of assembly. I went with what TC suggested, but that definitely doesn't mean there isnt other options. @Victorian can better answer this. For non load bearing non structural areas, i used...

    Four Wheel Camper ‘Project M’

Yes! Most trucks with tailgates has decent gaps between the tail gate and the edges of the bed. This is to account for flex and movement. This is also a vaccum that brings in dust. I tried for 2 years every trick possible to see that gap on my Tundra with a top and the issue always remained...

Build: Ram 3500 and Aluminum/Composite Expedition Camper

I fully understand the difference between C channel and fully boxed and the length differences. But.... if I’m getting close to 2 FEET of flex in my frame before tire is coming off of ground, even if he’s only getting 25% of that, that’s 6” of deflection. That’s still a fair amount. All...
