    Project Victory_Overland 08 LR3 Build Thread!

Thanks for the comments everyone; hoping to have some minor adjustments fixed within the next two weeks so I can get it off to powdercoat. I'll post up the gas strut install and the Hi-Lift mount when I get a chance. I also found I need to reinforce my pin lock mounts as I forgot that I need...

NAS LR3 build with an overseas twist

@Ray_G what was the issue with the clock spring that caused you to replace it? Maybe I missed it in your previous posts.

    LR3 Reverse Lights Upgrade

Forgot to mention; I also use the Sylvania LED and Sylvania Superbrite LEDs on the interior with great success. To be honest, they might be too bright for any type of privacy and considering putting them on a dimmer.

    Project Victory_Overland 08 LR3 Build Thread!

Here are the major parts ordered; you can order the kit on the drop-down menu from the right side of the page if you wish, but I did not need the striker mounts so individual order was a bit cheaper and at time, I qualified for free shipping. TMR Customs Bear Jaw Left Latch Bear Jaw Right...

    Give it to me straight

Yep, curious to see the codes; at 86k it could be as simple as a fuel cap, PCV valve, etc.

    LR3 Reverse Lights Upgrade

I use the Sylvania direct plug ins from the local auto parts stores with no issues. Curious to check out the ones @morrisdl posted cuz I think they are a bit cheaper and look to be brighter too.

    New Defender News

New Defender sales will struggle against all modern vehicles of "similar" capability at 1/2 the cost of Defender. There are two separate markets; Defender buyers in one, everyone else in the other; some of those are waiting on Rivian, Cyberjunk (T Cybertruck), etc... different markets. As far...

2006 LR3 HSE Tie Rod Replacement

Count the threads and take it to a professional alignment shop that knows modern LR procedures; makes zero sense to do it any other way when you put new parts on. A few miles to the indy shop or LR shop is not going to hurt anything.

    Cutting the Fat. Bumpers???

No chance I am taking out the rear AC but yeah, that 3rd row seat is ridiculous weight; I think if I remember its 90lbs total with brackets and panels. However, I think if you have the ARB, most of your parts are still under there except the bumper support, bumper cover, and I think you need to...

    New Defender News

Anyone know if these are all diesel or if they have a mix of petrol/diesel in this Namibia run? Obviously, logistically only makes sense for all to be diesel but for marketing purposes; I wonder if they have a mix for data collection and usability differences.

    Cutting the Fat. Bumpers???

@TexasTJ you need to jump on that bumper swap w/ @tdhunter13 and work out a cost difference; that's half of your problem solved. As far as weight: Been cruising around with my new dual swing-out prototype with a spare and two full Jerries (1 x fuel/1 x water), propane is currently empty (add...

Someone will probably have to make one since Gerry doesn't want aftermarket parts.

I like the external mounting options, however, would much prefer a Pelican Air option with those fancy quick disconnect trays that I need to buy for my roof rack....lol

    Cutting the Fat. Bumpers???

Depends if you want painted or not but I would surely go with what @krick3tt said and offload the vehicle while it has value remaining. You can probably get much more for it and be able to buy a lower cost, more reliable, and far more economical vehicle. I have a few of the parts sitting...

    New Defender News

I honestly take all these reliability things with a grain of salt. I mean these scores come from blown engines to rattles in dash panels; like reading WebMD for the common cold. On that note, Toyota has some significant problems over the last few years and many models are having major engine...

    Side mount Jerry Cans D2

Although I am sure it is possible; I do not see the major benefit as your CG is lower than on the roof (not by much) but still not in an ideal position as say on a rear swing out. Even the rear swing out has its downfall in many situations but the best at the moment considering options.

    LR4 Coil conversion?

I love my EAS and not in love with any of the current coil options out there. With that said, I would love to see someone build the box to run coils and sell it separately as I know I can make a great set of coils fit in my LR3 that are adjustable in the sense of compression and rebound allow...

    OVERLAND Journal Payload podcast

haha, not what I meant at all; what I meant was that build it to what your use is so if it works for you and your environment then tailor the build to that. My point is about consideration to what is "wanted" vs what is "needed" and that is it. I'm most certainly over the LR weight but I'll...
