Subaru Forester: Towing --- CVT or 6-sp?

Don't know about the Forester CVT but have been towing about 2100 lbs with an Outback CVT, been working fine .

    Camp Stoves, lets discuss

You can pick up a Coleman dual fuel two burner and add a propane adaptor, it will allow you to use either white gas, gasoline, 1# propane or even a 20# if you have the hose. If you want a single burner, MSR and Optimus (and I think Primus) all make small dual fuel isobutane/gasoline back...

    Subaru Forest Questions

Nice looking Subaru. Wrenching a weekend ride is okay, wrenching your daily driver is ok as long as it's not Sunday night at midnight and you are trying to get the thing running to go to work the next morning. Never have liked that kind of wrenching.

I hate sleeping bags! Bed rolls?

They work fine though not sure what is gained over a large rectangular sleeping bag. If you get off into cold weather, they do not roll very compact with 4 or 5 blankets inside. I tried a down quilt, worked well but for me no better than sleeping bag

Corey, nice box. How well has the finish aged thru the years and how much up keep does the finish require.

    New Splitting Maul

Been seeing splitting mauls since I was a kid (I'm 60 now) so modern is subjective. Had good ones and cheap ones, couldnt really tell you a difference in longevity if used for splitting. The older I get the less inclined I am to swing a maul for more than a little kindling to start a fire to get...

Subaru owners: Let's see your expedition rigs!

Money and expense is entirely subjective. Depends on what you make per hour as to whether it is a value or not. Someone making $300k a year will look at $250 spent differently than someone making $40k a year. I enjoy making things, but sometimes it pays to hire someone to do it and I just work...

    2017 4Runner Premium vs '08 Loaded Cruiser

I think it's safe to say there is no wrong answer.

    2017 4Runner Premium vs '08 Loaded Cruiser

Let me clarify my thoughts then, these days I dont have time to work on stuff and I stack a lot of miles on. 4Runner should be plenty reliable, decent on fuel, capable and well supported aftermarket. LC's are great, but I would take the Runner over a 9 year old LC with 120K

Not sure what you are getting at, how do you justify what you have done?

    Camp Chef Bulk Propane Pressure

The liquid produces it's own pressure, so it shouldnt matter whether it's a pound, 10 pounds or 50 pounds. That only matters if you pull enough volume that it pulls liquid out of the cylinder. I'd guess there is a constriction in the hose, either diameter or it's maybe an OPD valve and the...

    2017 4runner v 2017 Landcruiser

I suspect what triggered his cantankerous endeavor was reading the comment that American made 3/4 ton 4WD trucks couldnt leave a paved road with out breaking down. I know I about spit on the keyboard on that one. Toyota makes a hell of a vehicle, and not just in the LC.

Mr heater buddy heaters in tents overnight

I would almost agree with you. My thoughts are in all things safety you really have to talk to the lowest level if you dont know who you are talking to. And my only caveat is I have seen some real dumb asses over the last few years.

    2017 4runner v 2017 Landcruiser

Did we actually find out what service life meant? I drive about 60,000 a year and I would dig having something I could run for 1,500,000 miles. But if he just means parts are available, thats no biggie
