That's because it's standard on the 110 and the 90 isn't coming for the '20 MY.

Yes, I follow that the TC system is better, but is it better from a breakover/articulation/etc aspect? I can't find suspension travel numbers for the D5. Lucky for my my LR3 has the rear locker so the TC rarely has to do any work. Again my biggest concern are the 20" wheels. I have some rim...

I haven't driven an D5 on or off road. It's better than the LR3/4? My primary worry is the wheel size but would love to know why its better!

Back in a Rover again, mild LR3 build

Wait a second... did you buy E-rated tires and then air them up to over-OE pressure? And you're asking about ride quality? Have you done a chalk test for pressure check? (A probe gauge for tire temp would be even better but for those of us without a racecar I don't expect you to own one) I'm...

I'll reiterate what I posted a few minutes ago again just so it's not missed. Very few people go off road. So few that if it wasn't for people buying these trucks for 'image,' they wouldn't exist. No wrangler, no 4runner, no Defender, nothing. The fact that there's a new Wrangler made me very...

It was 18 hours coming back from SWCO this past weekend. Trust me, it was nice being comfortable. Let me guess, that's not a long enough drive to want comfort? I'm trying really hard not to be overly frustrated, but the point is that we cannot have it all. Each person will want a different...

    2020 Defender Spy Shots....

Why is complicated better? Because comfort and versatility matters. In the military, only performance matters. You don't have your wife/girlfriend next to you for 18 hours. You aren't worried about how nice it feels to blast down a dirt road - only thing that matters is performance and...

    2020 Defender Spy Shots....

The primary issue for EAS is lack of PM. On the LR3/4, the truck will auto level every 20 minutes once it's shut off. If you have a leak (in the bag, blocks, lines, etc), the truck will lower on one corner, then level. Then lower again, then level. Pretty soon you're on the bump stops. If you...

Wait til we have active suspension with magnetorheological dampers PLUS air suspension. I cannot freakin' wait.

Where are you reading all this about the air suspension being so horrible? Because the actual owners of theses trucks have been commenting over and over right here in this thread about how robust they've been. My truck is 14 years old and so far the only service it's had is a replacement of...

The SS and GTO *were* great cars! But they didn't sell! That's the issue... there needs to be a market. I don't think a stripped down, tech-lacking, solid axle Defender would sell. I think its a bit early to call the Defender a swing and a miss given that it's not yet available to buy or test :)

    2020 Defender Spy Shots....

I don't have body on frame. I have fully independent suspension. An automatic transmission. HID headlamps, air suspension, etc etc. My truck is 14 years old and I just did a 3k mile road trip with it last week in comfort. If this tech was good enough to last the last 100k+ miles, why do you...

You're correct, most states do not have any emissions controls at the consumer level for diesel. Thus the obnoxious and pointless coal-rolling. To be fair, most states also only perform an OBD2 test anymore. It's REAL easy to cheat those.

A Rubicon is $43k with no options. How are you getting a Rubicon, Super Duty, and EXC for $50k total new? Cuz I'm in!

    2020 Defender Spy Shots....

The basic model is $49k, not $77k. And that's for the 110, the basic 90 should be around 42k.

    2020 Defender Spy Shots....

Fair and since it's your opinion, it's not wrong. It's certainly a controversial thing to make the Defender so nice, but again, the new Defender will be more capable than the old one. Will it be more capable then a Wrangler Rubicon? Nope. Should it be? That's up for debate - I can't find a...

    2020 Defender Spy Shots....

YES. THIS. EXACTLY. I just drove 18 hours back from SW colorado and the comfort aspect is something that is ignored over and over and over by people arguing about departure and breakover angles. It's not much use if the 90% of the time you spend on the highway getting there is miserable. And...

    2020 Defender Spy Shots....

I can only say that my 12 year old Rover is just as reliable as the Toyotas of similar era, with the single caveat of learning how to do the PM on the EAS. I've replaced a set of O rings so far, nothing else. The pre '05 rovers are horrific, no argument there. The air suspension at full height...
