    2020 Defender Spy Shots....

Why is everyone insisting on calling this a glamour-mobile!? I have a lot of respect for the wrangler but I drive a "IFS, air sprung, glamour mobile" and I take it anywhere in the US without trouble. Unless we're talking about hitting the Rubicon, there's really not a use case where this isn't...

    LR3 Differential Backlash?

    Yeah, if I can't find a spec that's what I'll do. What's DTI?

    LR4 fridge placement

Interesting :) I do own a Yeti but something to consider in the future! Thanks guys.

    LR4 fridge placement

Yep! That's convenient if the car is being run - not if it's parked which it was for most hours of the day. I guess we can assume a quality fridge will also have excellent insulation as well? If so maybe I should change my views....

    LR4 fridge placement

I'm in the minority here I'm sure, but over the course of 6+ mo of carcamping I never missed having a fridge and was happy to have a quality cooler (Yeti in my case) with just ice. I found it a lot less worrisome to buy ice every 4-5 days than to worry about having a power source 24/7.

Yes, things tend to get better not worse, despite some people who claim that they still wish they were fixing points and carburetors.

Help me Pick Lift and Tires

Each to their own. I've been running every trail with P-rated duratracs for 18 months and while this is a contentious topic around here, I'm more aggressive with my truck than most people and I've done plenty of damage to my wheels but the tires have done great. I previously have run E-rated...

    LR3 Differential Backlash?

I swapped in a used diff with ~.019" of lash and good bearings. Folks, if you have any noise up front, swap the diff. Mine looked HORRIFIC but you could barely hear it. Huge chunks of the coating coming off the housing and eating up the rollers. Now that its swapped out I still need to...

Help me Pick Lift and Tires

Do you really need more clearance? For moderate trails? I've personally watched a stock LR3 navigate Poison Spider Mesa in Moab without any GAP adjustment. I do own a GAP tool and I do run +25mm lift but only on very aggressive trails. Do not run over +25mm ever. Extended mode exists for a...

    LR3 Differential Backlash?

I've googled.... I'm asking for a reason. There's even some rebuild photos here on ExPo but no info on the actual backlash or process. Nothing in the service manual either.

    LR3 Differential Backlash?

Been putting off my Front Diff rebuild and it's time to get it done. I'm shocked but LK8 stocks the diff rebuild kit but hasn't got any information on the actual rebuild process. This isn't my first diff rebuild, so I'm not in the dark here. Pressing in seals and bearings and races are clear. I...

    2020 Defender Spy Shots....

Nobody is designing vehicles for difficult maintenance/repair. It's a packaging/production issue. This is such a common misconception which has been passed down for decades now about how all new cars (of that time) are just 'scamming' you for extra dealer revenue. You're right about many...

    2020 Defender Spy Shots....

This is true but applies to vehicles with no off road capability (21" wheels, no low range, etc). I do understand that 10 speed boxes are a thing and that yes, its possible to eliminate low range, but the problem remains: Most people by a very large margin will never drive on a road or trail...

    2020 Defender Spy Shots....

Why should JLR care about anything *but* what is purchased new? That's who's paying them, not those who pick them up used. I see this argument frequently with regards to manual transmission options for other vehicles. Sure you want one, but in 5 years. But if nobody buys one new, they won't...

^^^ YEP. My lady laughs every time we see a D5. How is that a Land Rover? Rovers are supposed to look boxy and cool! Instead they blend in.... sigh. Definitely cut me out of their prospective buyers. Guess I'll need to find a '16 LR4... We are both wrong and right on different things :) Vane...
