I agree, the Ford 8.8 C-clips are not an issue and if you get one with disc brakes, the rotor/mounting cage will hold the axle in place even if the C-clip failed, unlike a drum brake setup.

I have read that the Krylon Fusion paint works very well for the plastic flares. Just clean them with a good wax/grease remover first. GTA, looking good.

Since it looks like the lift/handle are just laying behind the seat, don't ever roll your rig. You'll most likely not be around to tell us about it. My feeling is ANYTHING in the cab needs to be secured for an acident/roll over.
