    So, I miss my LJ....

Good job. Did you put anything on the inside panel (i.e. the outer quarter panel) to prevent things from bouncing around and leaving dents on the quarter panel skin? That would be my only fear, leaving dents from the inside out.

    dana 35 ok for overlanding?

My buddy (who actually got me into Cherokees) ran the D35 (factory LSD, 4.10) for the last 10 years and just recently changed over to a Chrysler 8.25 due to problems with the D35. Finally the case spread apart enough to cause excess play in the gears and was causing a whine. He has been...

polyurethane sway bar bushing size for XJ

Okay, I'll put in my 2 cents worth. First, run away from Poly suspension bushings. These are much firmer and will not flex as much as stock. In return this adds a lot of extra load on the mounting points and you can actually rip the mounting flanges off the frame and/or axle. On a sports car...

    STUCK pictures

First trip when we got our Cherokee, still bone stock but I had disconnected the front swaybar. Out at Superstition playing in the sand. Running across a sand ridge when we came up to a point of having to bail left or right, both kind of ugly options. I guess I thought about the choice a...

You're on the right track. It's what I call the domino effect. So many newbies try to cheap out and just see the cost of part X, not understanding they also really need part Y and Z to go with it. Next thing you hear is them complaining that part X is a piece of crap or they now have this...

I know what you mean, I have had deals pass that I just missed. Oh well, like you said, it wasn't meant to be. When it's right, everything will fall into place. Hey, if you update your profile and list where you live at, maybe someone on ExPo can pass on a good deal if they find one. Just a...

Fixed the typo. TJ was what I was thinking. Thanks! As for the low pinion, yes, 2000-2001 had them. This is what I have and on a mild lift with 31" tires, you will never have a problem. Higher lift and/or bigger tires, then the high pinion is the choice, if you stick with a D30. Don't...

Yep, I did 4.10's with the lift, actually replace the whole rear end with a 8.25 and regeared the front. Don't forget, you can look at TJ/LJ for the front axle, even certain year ZJ's. All of these front suspensions are the same and will swap in. The rear end is specific due to the leaf...

Thanks for the comments. I had gotten our Jeep right after my divorce and was on a single income until Lisa and I got married a year and a half later. Because money was really tight, I pieced my lift together over the course of a year. I did a ton of research on what worked and what didn't...

I agree 100% with RRO. Stay away from them. As for DPG, I really don't understand why you are staying away from them? So one person doesn't agree with Dirk's beliefs so his business must be bad. What? When it comes to some straight shooting info about OME and XJ's in general, DPG is a great...

Yep, I agree with photoman, Dirk at DPG Offroad is a great guy to work with and he can set you up with the right OME stuff. I have kept my build fairly mild (listed below) but I can get to about 90% of where most anyone goes. Hardcore rock crawling is just not my thing so I stay away from that...

Cherokee Forum got Hacked... I'm PO'd!

Just an update. Got a reply from the site admin and it looks like the site itself is fine BUT what we suspect is that the virus was dropped in from a banner ad. These don't reside on the host server so they are not scanned. This should be a concern everyone as so many sites have these hot...

    Help finding the right Pin

Oh, in this case, I have nothing. Seriously, sounds like the hitch pin with a spring might be your cheapest method at this point. Good luck. :ylsmoke: Oh, and if you get a hitch pin with a flange (kind of like in your original post), you could use JB Weld and epoxy the spring to the...

Cherokee Forum got Hacked... I'm PO'd!

So I load up my browser this morning with all the different forums I am on. Next thing I know my antivirus and anti-malware alerts start going off big time. It's blocking and deleting files. Start doing some checking on what site got hacked and it looks like it's Cherokee Forum.com. I am so...

The also have retaining caps (for holes not quite the right size) and recepticals. http://www.mcmaster.com/#ball-lock-pin-accessories/=2bxcu8 True, none of these ideas are cheap but that wasn't part of the original request. :coffeedrink:
