    Random dog shots

Here's a couple of Ellie from a few months ago. We took her to Fiesta Island for the first time. It was drizzling that morning so she got all wet running around but had a great time.

    Skid Plates

Not that I am right next door but if you come down to San Diego, I can help you out with the welding. I have two different MIG's (110v, 220v). May be a few more weeks before I can get to them though, working on my '68 truck project and can't get the welders out yet. Hopefully should having a...

    Skid Plates

If you are considering welding the two together, why don't you just weld some tabs onto the fuel skid plate and make them bolt together like they should? Oh, make sure you remove the skids before welding around the tank. My guess is it's a plastic tank and will not take any heat near it.

Very, Very slight stumble on the freeway

I agree, I hate intermittant problems!!! You might swing by an Autozone, Kragen, etc. and see if they can put a scan tool on and read if there are any codes thrown. A code won't always trip the check engine light so it might be worth checking. Also, if the O2 sensor hasn't been replaced, that...

Pop Up Camper Modification for Carrying Motorcycle. Also, warning **GORE PICS**

Ouch!!!!! I bet that hurt. Glad you have recovered okay from it. This is one reason I try not to use cutoff wheels as much as possible. When possible I try to cut material with a chop saw or when not practical, out comes the Plasma cutter. At least you know what you did wrong and hopefully...

    XJ battery help?

I had a yellow top Optima at one point that had top and side posts. I found the way the mounting bracket holds down the battery didn't really allow the side posts to be used easily and without risk that if it moved, it would not short out the positive side post on the long bolt. When I...

Congrats. You will want to get bushing as my OME did not come with them. Stock ones are fine. Trick I found to help get them in (which you most likely will need the use of a press) was to take a couple flat blade screwdrivers and wedge them into the end of the spring wrap. This opens the...

    is this logan's metal?

I don't know if the seller is actually Logan's Metal but the bumper sure is. I have been looking at that one as well. I would then add some upper bars, kind like an ARB or such. Good price for what looks to be a very solid bumper. I know those who bought them over on NAXJA sure like them.

Jeep JK - New battery/batteries - need advise?

I put a Sears Platinum in our Cherokee and moved my yellow top Optima into our trailer. I had my first yellow top go bad within a year and have had issues with red tops in the past. No more Optimas for me ever. So far very happy with the Platinum. We don't drive the Cherokee more then once a...

If you don't have a locker or LSD, then jack up one rear wheel and rotate it one revolution. Count how many times the driveshaft spins (might need to put a mark so you know each revolution). If you have a locker or LSD, jack up both wheels and do the same. If the driveshaft spins about 3.5...

As others have said, stay on top of the cooling system. This also includes an overlooked item, the fan clutch. Outside of the typical things like good, clean radiator, water pump, t-stat, hoses, etc., many overlook the condition of the fan clutch, which will show up as low speed overheating...

Nice looking Cherokee. I got your PM. Hope you get the little stuff sorted out. I think I figured out what the problem was with the first post you tried to put a pic in, you had http:// twice. Should only have that part once. Congrats!

Came into some cash...need to choose some mods...

No, that is definitely not what I would recommend. Get JKS (or others) quick disconnects and disco only when offroad. I had to drive home from Superstition without the front swaybar back when I was stock (lost one set of the bushing when the nut backed off while disconnected). I could really...

Came into some cash...need to choose some mods...

Outside of some front and rear recovery points, the very first things I would add, if I added nothing else ever, would be rocker protection (aka sliders) and a transfer case skid. I happen to have a Warn one because I got a good deal on it. There are better ones out there. I have hit both of...

Came into some cash...need to choose some mods...

That's a nice setup for recovery mounts. Even the full deal with shackles is a fairly good price. I echo the transfer case sides but an engine skid is not really needed unless you plan some hard core rock crawling. With the XJ, you're more likely to hit the transfer case long before you will...

Came into some cash...need to choose some mods...

Personally the very first thing I would do is to get some rocker protection. I really love my AJ Super Rails but there are a bunch of different ones out there. Both my buddies went with AJ's. My one buddy is basically stock and he managed to get through places using the sliders to slide over...

    So, I miss my LJ....

You'll be surprised at how little it takes to pop little dings. Anything metal (like the bottle jack) that happens to bounce into it, could do it. Potholes and such could make it move enough. I would say hit up RidOut Plastics in Kearny Mesa and get a scrap sheet of 1/8" ABS plastic and make...
