If JLR is pushing the Tusk and Red Cross thing as a staple, they absolutely must be producing a stripped down commercial version for fleet sales; there is no other way for any corporation, foundation, or whatever to justify cost of Defenders over LC and other variations available with similar...
Some people might hate me for saying this, but I do not mess with suspension settings once I enter the trail. Faster and more efficient to run a few leveling blocks or MaxTrax to level; and since it's level, the suspension will stay the way it is until you move. My experience with...
24" from the second row floor to the top of the platform. Pretty much level with the rear door handles and about an inch or so above the lower portion of the tail-gate when closed.
I'm finally done with all of the platform leg clevis's and the parts have arrived. Finally finished up the clevis mount brackets for my adjustable arms for the sleeping platform. Picked up these ATV billet and anodized tie-rods on Amazon for dirt cheap and they are perfect for this application...
Regardless of opinions on lines, tire size, etc., this is a good spot to speak of how dangerous three-wheel action is with a ******** ton of weight on the roof-rack. So many people forget how CGs change and tip-over angles are drastically reduced in situations like this with weight and tire flex...
Can't wait. I am out of town coming up on Monday for about two weeks; back on the 20th and the rear swing out and sleeping platform (my limiting factors at the moment) should be done. I'll be ready end of August to roll dirty!
I'm probably one of those guys who said it! I don't use one example for my judgment though and I agree with the disadvantages! However, I stand by the fact that modern air IS reliable in the VAST majority of cases.
On that note, I never said LR SHOULD use it, I said that if its the only...
Drove around in my boss's Disco 5 yesterday from SD to LAX to Ontario, and back around the loop and it was fabulous! Definitely nothing like a utility version like my LR3 but damn, it has every bell and whistle minus the Diesel and it is really fn nice!
ON that note, zero off-road time and...
@REDROVER wish I could make this weekend! I'll touch base with you via PM and chat about future events!
Who's our contact for Southern Cali LR Club? I'm about to put a NCLR sticker and membership on my SoCal rig! hahaha
My Traxide harness is going through the steering column grommet as it is the best and easily accessible (easy is relative to other options); however, as @nwoods stated, the main harness comes through the firewall at the passenger side interior fuse panel under the dash. Taking the glove box...
Thanks for the response on weights @REDROVER ; 200lb can easily be made up in other areas for a trail vehicle!
Love watching this, makes me want to buy a motor just to ensure I get a Rover to put it in...lol
@REDROVER makes sense to me! Thanks for the response!
Do you know the comparison in weight difference between the 6.2 and Rover Diesel? Sure gas is different by 350lbs, but is this considerable between Rover diesel options as well?
Agreed! I stay with moderate lifts; had a 2001 Diesel Excursion I lifted to the sun on 37", lost just about every true capability other than looks. I did a remod and dropped it 4" lift with 35" (closer to 34") and the performance with towing and moderate off-road was perfect for what it could...
@REDROVER Looking forward to watching this build! Just out of curiousity, why the 6.2; is it because of the availability or because its the ease of install? Is there a huge weight difference between factory and 6.2 when its all said and done? Obviously the 6.2 is probably bulletproof and...
I'm all about functional lifts for clearance, larger diameter tires, etc. However, at one point I thought I wanted to be able to life my LR3 for more clearance but I find my sweet spot is actually just under or in between "Normal" and "Off-Road" height and that's where I keep it for compression...
If they total it, I would ask to buy it back and see how much they will ask? After my accident, the insurance paid out $15.5k I think and then I bought it back for like another $1500 so I really made out and she runs like a champ after I fixed it.
