    Outside temperature sensor

I have seen some disparity between the odometer and the 'i' button for the same distance traveled. I do not rely on the MPG reading. Try to fill up when t gets to 1/2 on the gas tank meter. I always carry 10 gallons in reserve, ya never know. So I am going to rely on the temp gage to be...

Poll: Storage Case - Durability vs. Weight?

Depends on where it it located. Inside, loose and not in a drawer it's a 'B' Outside on the RR it's an 'A'. But then it depends on what I have loaded in it. No point in having a light box with 200 pounds in it.

    Outside temperature sensor

It seems to be reasonable w/o wind chill as it is behind a shield. A degree or two is no big deal but when it is reading 98 or 102 in the summer I wonder. Sure feels like it though. Perhaps it takes into account the temp of the asphalt I am going over.

5-7 days in the back country of Death Valley....

I don't 'run' the fire all night but I have an 11 and 10 pound tanks. I take both usually, one for the cooking and one for the canned fire. I have been using the fire tank (ten) for about 10 trips and the (11) for about the same, still feels heavy. I also have the green 1 pound tanks for my...

    Recovery Equipment Recommendations

Don't tighten the shackle pin too tight. Finger tight should be enough or it might take a tool to release the pin. I will be trying my new soft shackle one day, hope it is everything it is touted to be. Any thoughts on it?

5-7 days in the back country of Death Valley....

I lost my Dad to cancer many years ago and my Mom to dementia last year. I regret that my Dad and I never got to take the float plane adventure to Alaska to go fishing. Something he really wanted to do. We did take a Windjammer ship through the Caribbean though, that was fun. Wherever you go it...

    Spares

Thanks for the information and suggestions. I have ordered an extra set of bulbs (front, rear) to keep on hand for possible outages. The ARB bumper may create issues in removing the front light assembly for refitting the bulbs, its just a bit of maneuvering to free the assembly but it can be done.

    Spares

I tried the LED bulbs for the tail lights/flashers but they flash rapidly and that is not good. took them out and put the incandescents back in. Still have the LED bulbs. I was told that my LR has some kind of voltage issue with LED bulbs, a design sort of thing.

    Spares

Thinking of a road trip this fall. What spares would you recommend I carry (not a spare LR, already thought of that) for possible issues. The LR is/has recently been gone over but I am gathering the things that might cause concern far from home or a LR facility. Have ordered a new alternator...

    Why use a RTT?

Thanks for posting your pics. Getting up in the middle of the night to relieve myself is a bother I prefer not to take. Got a pee jar with a tight fitting lid (peanut butter jar). It is s much better than crawling out in the rain or cold to relieve myself. Especially when I sleep in the Rover...

    Weatherproof Firewood storage?

Just today I went by a huge dumpster loaded with prime firewood from a construction project, 2x4, 4x4, 4x6, etc. My pile in the back yard is almost 3/4 cord now so I don't need additional. Most construction projects will let you take from their cut off bins as they pay by weight to have the...

    Weatherproof Firewood storage?

Using a duffle bag with a garbage bag liner is the simplest and least expensive so far, as I can see. Absolutely brilliant. I have a Campfire in a Can. No issues with burn bans and I can cook on it as well. Seems to weather OK on the roof rack with no rain issues. Gave up on carrying wood a...

    Weatherproof Firewood storage?

I have one of the Amazon bags and only used it once. Now sits in my garage gathering dust. I find that anything I want to keep dry I put in the back of the LR.

They look simple enough. Wonder if the heat would be as effective as I have heated seats.
