This just popped back up and a realized I never followed up. I ended up with the ARB fridge slide for my 63qt. Purchased through Amazon with the intent of copying the design, buying heavy duty locking slides and making my own then returning it but I ended up liking it so much and deciding the...
That's exactly my point. How am I going to know/appreciate/judge the different if I don't buy one of each and try them out? That's what is difficult about a purchase like this... few folks have experience with a variety of different lights mounted in the same location, on the same vehicle to...
I still need a 30 or 40" bar for the front of my roof rack. Hoping to find one on sale for cyber monday. Still can't decide if I want to spend $200 or 800 on it though! Someone needs to do a LED light bar shootout and figure out if/just how much better the same size similar bars are from...
I built a cardboard enclosure around our queen size bed as a teardrop mockup. It was pretty fun, although my wife claimed it clashed with our bedroom furniture!
I honestly didn't notice a huge handling difference so will be interested to hear your opinion. I also added some 15mm spacers to the rear so had a few different things going on.
Make sure you crank down hard on those lock nuts after adjusting. One of mine was loose after doing some...
YDR - I did the MT upper and lower control arms earlier this week. It was fairly straightforward however took a pretty long time considering it was all of 8 bolts! I just adjusted mine to match stock length, but if I should've done something differently would you kindly let me know?
I had a...
I keep my recovery gear in an ARB bag inside the long pass. side drawer with the heavy duty slides. This works great as it is easily removable. If I'm by myself or think I might need the gear I usually throw it in the 2nd row footwell. You usually want your gear in a bag anyway and not...
What kind of Defender do you have? Before we upgraded to the LC from the 4R I briefly considered a 110. The LC is about 1000x more comfortable and reliable than a Defender! I can't imagine the time and money it would take to try and bring a defender to be roughly on par with a LC. That...
4R has 1200# of payload capacity. LC has 1715#. That makes a big difference when adding a bunch of gear and weight. IMO the 4R doesn't do very well fully armored and loaded up as a true expo rig. Especially for us since we tried to put 4 people and a dog into it!
I've never owned a...
We have a nice 3rd gen 4R that was our family vehicle until the family got too big. We got a siberian husky and our kids have kept growing so we bought the 100-series a year ago and it works great for our needs. This is the 2nd 3rd gen 4R I've had and I think the 4R excels if you can keep it...
That's a mighty fine offer! Hopefully someone can take advantage of this. I remember reading through that thread a few months back when I was planning on building my rear drawer system and cargo area. Pretty cool how different folks find good solutions for their different needs!
P.S. Jay...
If you think wheel/tire weight and unsprung mass isn't important you're kidding yourself. They are. Some vehicles are obviously more sensitive to this than others because they lack the power or braking ability to "overcome" the increased weight.
33vs35 tire alone is about 10-12# increase...
