Dave,
I took another spin through the Goose Gear website and was wondering if you would be willing to share which specific units you purchased to build your setup? Your configuration seems really well thought out so I wanted to price out a similar setup and thought it might be useful to others...
I like the roof bars on the habitat as well. With the rear deployed it could be very easy to setup a gravity feed water system for use above a tailgate kitchen. Add the optional canvas room and maybe a side awning and this setup is pretty killer IMO. Starting to plan out my Goose Gear style...
Looks really nice!
At first I was a bit surprised at the decision to open the tent to the rear but it would be nice to have a small cab roof rack and then noticed the option for an awning room... Assuming that means an awning room to attached under the bed at the rear? THAT would be add a ton...
Love the example with the removable camper section with built in hydraulic rams. This base camp setup is, IMO, ideal so you can place the camper and then use the truck separately. For example, head to Yosemite, get your camp site, drop the camper and then use the truck to explore the park...
Great shot showing the benefits. I love the small footprint and wonder how comfortable one would be for two people over a long period (weeks not weekends). One of those on an AEV equipped Jeep would be awesome. I was thinking a Habitat plus an expedition tent (e.g. like a Kodiak) could be a...
Maybe modify the standard FB50 layout by moving the bench forward so you have space at the rear for a shower/toilet. Downside is you would need to access via external doors (or crawl over the couch/bed). However this would provide a lower and upper bed for sleeping 4 people and have 2 rear...
Its interesting they mention the camper can be removed... seems to mention sky hooks so you would need crane? It would be cool if it could be removed in the field and base camped.
I am surprised at how expensive OSV conversions are. They had a 170 full camper "Brown Pow" for sale for $280K wow. For that money I would buy a Fuso Earthcruiser.
This one is $130k with 70k miles on it. It seems nice but that is the most I would want to spend on a new one... It does...
Nice Outside Van Sprinter for sale. Below is the blog link but it's also listed on Denver Craigslist.

Congrats on the sale, and thanks for the detailed response. I was wondering from a practical point of view the reason for the change. Makes total sense to keep weight low etc. some day I will build one of these so I appreciate the contrasting info from both trucks.
Wow, thats a perfect Taco setup right there. I also liked the blue one you sold in the past. Just wondering, any reason why you didn't add the spare tire, storage box and rear bumper like you had on the blue one? I so wish I had the money saved to buy this complete setup ready to go. GLWS.
Nice setup. Just wondering how long the bed section is (not the front gear age boxes, but the flat bed). You mention 10'? The bed with the boxes on it behind the headache rack looks shorter.
