I like the boxes on the flatbed as well. For me, with only two travelers, it makes a lot more sense to use boxes on the flat bed instead of an extended cab, etc. (similar overall length but shorter cab).
It would be nice to make the passenger side box big enough to house a fridge on a slide...
Awesome van. Very cool you didn't leave it white; love the grey color. Would love to see more exterior pics from the front, etc. can't wait to see the pop top. Also what interior layout are you going with? From your cad drawing it looked like an SMB RB50?
Adam, just wondering. Given setup how would it have been used at idle? I don't see refrigeration or other devices that might require long term idle. Curious how it would have been used. It looks like a huge mobile storage unit. Never seen such a setup before.
Good points on the overall everything is illegal. I think this is good discussion; I am still not sure where I come down on the issue... buy more truck or just go with the size you want (e.g. a Taco instead of a RAM). I know the FWC dealers that drive Tacos with FWC campers on them... as well...
One aspect is wear on the truck, extended braking distance, etc. however, what if you are in an accident? If you are over weight wouldn't that factor into the situation with the authorities, insurance etc? Especially if you run into the back of someone or blow a tire, etc. Risk people are...
Interesting. Didn't know the back was blocked off like that in the Habitat. I wasn't trying to compare but to suggest a possible use for one of their other products. Looks like it wouldnt really work.
Actually an interesting idea would be to take the "Action Truck" design and add the AT Habitat... remove the roof, rollbar, rear seats etc... add the Action truck tubular frame instead of the rollbar, add the AT Habtitat and you basically have a JK Flippak with more room in the rear for interior...
You could add a wrap to the van including covering the camper windows (they make a kind of wrap that covers windows but can still be seen through (kind of a perforated look)). The wrap could be "Sagan's Pet Grooming" with fake company name, logo, maybe even contact number... on the front fender...
Impressive you were able to keep the weight down (500lbs) and still have such a nice interior. It's expensive but not when compared to an Earthroamer Jeep or an XP Camper. Exciting to see it finally in production. Congratulations!
Always liked that design, but I wonder how much that would weigh... cant imagine it is within the Jeep weight limit but from what I could see they didn't post the weight.
Hey the post is a sale due to medical condition which if we take at face value may be contributing to the lack of detail in the post. My wife is disabled with a disease most people wouldn't even notice on her good days but sometimes she can't even walk out to get the mail... Just saying there...
If this isn't a scam but a real product... That price is cheap compared to a Sportsmobile E series with 4x4 and would be great for US and Europe. I agree though it seems strange a Dana would fit. I for one am very interested to see how the new Euro style vans evolve in the U.S. Tons of them...
Obviously no need to rationalize it to me (or others); its your Jeep and it has had a a amazing journey thus far. Your vision to totally change it from the original Earthroamer was amazing and fun to see transform. I am sure lots of people thought that was crazy. Can't wait to see what you do...
