Will this radio transmit on GMRS frequencies?

Interesting. I didn't see anything regarding the BTECH radio locking you out to transmitting on GMRS frequencies. Again; I'm learning here. I'm trying to keep it simple. And the FTM-100DR is about $100 more than the Yaesu FTM-7250DR. And neither will let you transmit above 450 MHz (the GMRS...

Will this radio transmit on GMRS frequencies?

I'm thinking of holding off on getting one of those BTECH 25W dual band radios - at least for use with GMRS frequencies. In further conversation with the trip group leader, it sounds like my little 5W UV-5R will be sufficient. Thank-you to those who took the time to explain it to me. It has...

Will this radio transmit on GMRS frequencies?

And that's why I started this thread... to find out what's legal and proper. I'm not wanting to blast the airwaves. This was referenced earlier - the frequency table. I'm assuming under the column "GMRS Power" that is the maximum output allowed? If that's the case, then if I had a dual-band...

Will this radio transmit on GMRS frequencies?

I found this user's guide: https://baofengtech.com/usermanual/X-Series-User-Guide.pdf Pages 32 & 61 mention transmit high and low options (you can toggle between the two). Don't know what the low power is for this 25 Watt radio. Page 56 talks about GMRS (which you may find interesting).

Will this radio transmit on GMRS frequencies?

When you say "harmful interference to other users", so you mean actual physical damage, or just being a pain? Do the dedicated GMRS radios automatically decrease their output depending on frequency selected? My thinking is these GMRS radios are about the same price as the inexpensive 25W...

Will this radio transmit on GMRS frequencies?

I'm getting ready to go on an overlanding trip in October with a group, and they're wanting us to communicate via GMRS. I have a little dual-band 5W BaoFeng UV-5R mounted in my Jeep (with an external antenna), and I believe it gets the GMRS frequencies (I punched them in to see, and it does)...

Slumberjack roadhouse tarp / any other users?

I bought one recently just before heading off on a little adventure up in western Canada. Never even took it out of its bag to read the instructions - just put it in the trailer for "just-in-case". Well "just-in-case" came a couple days later. I was heading towards Ft Nelson, and a rear...

    Trailer tires wearing uneven

That's an interesting theory (and kinda makes sense). We'll have to see how the tires wear on this upcoming trip (5000 miles through Canada to the Arctic Ocean and back). There's also a little more weight on the passenger side of the trailer than the other side.

That would be worth checking out. Thanks!

    Trailer tires wearing uneven

Sorry for not following up. Bearings didn't seem too loose, but I packed them and tightened them up. Brake pads looked evenly worn. I've got new tires for the trailer, and later this week I'm heading out on a 5000 mile trip with the trailer. We'll see how the new tires wear. If they wear...

    Trailer tires wearing uneven

I will check the brake pads for uneven wear when I pull the drums to pack the bearings. That's a good idea.

Pictures of the tires. The passenger side tire (first picture) wore worse than the driver's side tire.

    Trailer tires wearing uneven

It is not a cambered axle - it is a straight axle (I was the one who ordered it and installed it). I hadn't thought about it being a possible bearing issue - I will definitely check them (I was going to repack the bearings anyways before my 5000 mile trip that's comin up next month). It makes...

Denied bringing a rifle into Canada

So... I was going to spend a week up in Canada. I was entering via the Sumas border crossing (in WA), and going as far north as Whitehorse (a four day drive from the border), and then turning around and driving four days back. I was pre-running part of a trip I'm leading next month to the...

    Trailer tires wearing uneven

I just got back from a 3000 mile trip pre-running part of the 5000 mile trip to the Arctic Ocean we'll be doing in August. I noticed when I got home the trailer tires were wearing more on the inside half of the tread (I'll probably replace them before the trip in August). The trailer is a...

The latest essential piece of equipment from Yeti

Ok... so scrolling through the camping equipment page on this forum I came across this one, so I read all the posts, then I clicked on the link to see what this lunch bag thing was that everyone was talking about. OMG. It looks like kinda like the soft-sided lunch thingy I would use at work...

    Portable Air Compressor Question

I run this Air Armor thing. Works well. Brings my 33" tires back up from 15 to 28 PSI quickly. It is noisy, but aren't they pretty much all? And like all of them, they get warm after use, so let it cool down some before closing up the ammo can. I like it because it is all enclosed in an...

2019 Subaru Outback rated recovery points. Anyone make any?

Add a 2" receiver in the back. They sell hidden ones that tuck up under the rear fascia. I put one on my wife's 2017 Crosstrek.
