    New beam axle options?

You mean solid axles front and rear? And not looking at 3/4 or one-ton axles? If so.... IH Scouts IH Trucks Toyota Landcruisers. Earlier Toyota trucks Land Rovers Range Rover classics Early Ford Bronco (classic), and later full-size Bronco (till about 1981-ish) Earlier Full-size Ford Trucks...

Need your input on the best way to transport a Generator

Generators are great when you've lost electricity at home (that's a fairly good sized generator you've got). But if you're out in the wilderness and there's anyone within earshot of your generator, they will be hating you for ruining their outdoor experience (I know I would). It doesn't matter...

mods you wouldnt do again ...

On my 98 Jeep TJ (with the four cylinder engine) I put a heavy steel gas tank skid, steel rear corner body guards, and a heavy pair of steel (with steel side tubes) rocker guards. I should have gone with a more expensive, but lighter set of aluminum protection. Would save some weight, and help...

    Looking for a particular hat

My Stormy Kromer hat arrived today in 7 5/8. Fits nice, and should definitely keep my head warm. It has a cotton lining and wool outside. I like the look and feel of the cap - it feels well made. It also covers more of my head than a regular baseball cap does. I know the look might not be...

Time to start shopping for a new (to me) vehicle...looking for your thoughts/suggestions!

Consider a Gen II Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 truck short-bed with the extended cab (1996 was the first year with OBD-II). They have solid axles front and rear, a back seat, & put a cap on the bed and it'll hold a huge amount of stuff. They come with V-8 engines, and with a small 2" lift front and rear...

    Looking for a particular hat

I usually wear a baseball cap, which is just one layer of cotton. So this SK cap is much more insulated, and should be much warmer. I don't think the pull-down ear covers cover the whole ear as well as the 180 ear muffs though. We'll see.

    Looking for a particular hat

Hats arrived - they seem nice. I mailed my buddy his, but I had to exchange mine for a slightly larger size. My Army caps were size 7.5, and when I did the head measuring according to the site's instructions I came out with a 7.5 (actually 7.41, and they tell you to round-up to the next 1/8th...

    Looking for some DIY advice.

Thank-you. It has been a fun little project. Here's a build thread for my little trailer (it was an evolutionary process - they are never truly "done" as you're always tweaking them): https://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f27/mini-harbor-freight-type-trailer-ultimate-build-up-thread-1180456/ I've...

    Looking for some DIY advice.

See if this website is helpful (they have teardrop plans and kits): https://bigwoodycampers.com/ As to restroom facilities, mine's one of those folding toilet seats with the bag inside a dedicated tall shower tent (green one in the first picture). And by-the-way; the little trailer is built...

    Camping Chair Storage Bag

Probably a draw string style (kinda like what this one, and most folding chairs come with), single chair bag (I have two chairs, so I'd probably get two bags), no additional storage, no shoulder strap (although a fabric grab handle in the middle of the bag might be nice for carrying), no...

    propane tank carrier

I'm still trying to convince myself to spend $100 for a tank holder, plus another $50 for a 5-lb Manchester tank (it would give my little trailer even more of that expedition look). And add in still the price of the hose to connect the 5-lb tank to my Coleman stove. Usually two 1-lb cylinders...

    Looking for a particular hat

Thanks. I'll post a review once my wife and I get to try'm on. Three hats (plus a gift box for my buddy) came to like $140, so I hope they're worth the investment.

    Jeep trailer is done

Sorry - trailers you build are never "done". You'll continually be thinking of ways to tweak them. I don't know how many times mine has been "done".

    Looking for a particular hat

Ok; so I ordered three Stormy Kromer caps; one Original for me in Adirondack Plaid (pictured below), one Black Millie Kromer for my wife (has a hole in the back for a pony tail - I hope she likes it), and one Original for my buddy's as a birthday present (in old-man Red/Black Plaid). If they...

    MaxTrax, are they worth it?

You're welcome. Let us know what you end up getting. Some folks would say (or swear!) that my X-Bulls are cheap copies of the MaxTrax. They definitely are cheaper than the MaxTrax (3 to 4 times cheaper actually... literally... X-Bulls are $70 - $80/pair vs. $299 - $329/pair for the MaxTrax)...

Elmer Fudd's actually a pretty handsome kind-of-guy! I'd take being compared to him as a compliment. He kinda has that rugged outdoorsy look.

    Looking for a particular hat

Yup; it is the Stormy Kromer. As soon as I clicked on their website (thanks Correus!) I knew it was the one I remembered. And my wife (who's younger than me) has referred to me as "Elmer Fudd" before. More than once now that I think about it. Normally I'm wearing a baseball-type hat with...

    MaxTrax, are they worth it?

That is too cool. Now I'm just playing around looking for MaxTrax and X-Bulls in Europe. You'd think between E-Bay and Amazon.com you'd be able to find both easily. I have no idea shipping cost to Europe from the states. And you'd think with the MaxTrax being an Australian item, they'd be...

    Looking for a particular hat

This'll be a short thread. My computer took a major dump a while back. Was able to save all my data, but I lost all the links (Favorites) I had been saving over the years (tons of links lost - it was a sad day). Anyways... there's a fabric hat out there I'm looking for (I lost the link...

    MaxTrax, are they worth it?

These you linked are rated at 5-tons (not 10 tons like the next generation X-Bulls I purchased). X-Bull does have a previous generation traction mats that are rated at 5-tons that look like the ones you linked. Of course, I'd take this tonnage rating with a grain of salt until someone told me...
