I hope all of you had an awesome Thanksgiving!
So I decided I wanted to add little unique touches here and there in the camper. I founds this amazing hand made Nordic axe to mount on the fridge slider. Have not found a asthetic way to secure the axe here yet, but thought I would share what I was...
No plans for further insulation. In the isle area we have heavy rubber mats due to the corrugation in the bed (with the rubber mats you cant feel them while standing). Then we have heavy bathroom like mat carpets on top of the rubber mats. This keep the major truck bed area on the inside of the...
I don’t remember the bolt size, but they are beefy. They are stainless steel. Yea, “mixing“ steel can be an issue, but the rail of the Hiatus is aluminum, so a stainless steel bolt on the aluminum rail is no rail issue. The only place where it’s steel on steel is on the under side of the truck...
Its funny how sometimes the cars we least expect from provide the most. I was a young boy and had Suzuki Sidekick as my first car. (To my regret) I treated it like ********, beat it on dirt roads daily (thought I was a rally driver), 4wd it super hard, looong road trips, rarely changed the oil or...
I can‘t help you sir.
From your post, the only source you believe is Consumer Reports. YET, you don‘t believe your own source in what they report and claim/deduced all on your own that “American made loyalists skew their reliability opinions.” You simply just cherry picked the reports from your...
I wont EVER own a 7.3 for a million miles?
https://leftlanenews.com/2011/05/05/2002-f-350-powerstroke-passes-1-million-miles-still-counting/

(TONS of super high milage 7.3 in this form)...
You are correct, I don‘t have clamps. I used big bolts to secure my Hiatus to the bed. See the below two pictures showing this. There are 5 large bolts each side. Since I was going to be doing extensive 4x4 trails, I wanted something more durable and reliable then clamps. Also the bolts are out...
I have one Max Air Fan over the bed in my Hiatus Camper, thats all. I didn’t want a second fan because I simply didn’t need it. The Max Air fan + The two windows + The side panel that opens on the drive side = more then enough airflow for me.
Also, I was originally planning on having a storage...
This is gunna be a killer build! Subscribed! Love your winch setup, might have to do something similar to my dodge.
love seeing other dodges out there proving to be good platforms for off-road/overland.
I think once you stand in one and see how much visibility and airflow it has with the two windows (plus the other two on the doors) and popping side panel, extra windows seems like over kill. That’s just my speculating opinion on your question though.
Bold talk there.
Ford, Chevy, and Dodge all have great platforms out there (7.3s / F250 series, Duramax / Silverado, Cummins series to name a few). To use such a broad brush and claim these platforms have “typical nonsense“ and people should be “rightfully concerned“ is simply incorrect. These...
I’ve gotten a lot of requests on DM to make some videos showing the Hiatus in more detail. I am going to do a few for you all this week and post them by Friday. If any of you have requests of what you want to see in the videos let me know so I can include all of that.
Great questions!
Why did I buy the barn doors vs the tailgate style?
A) I liked the look of the barn doors over the tailgate style.
B) I liked have the ability to close one half (one side) of the entrance to the Hiatus for quick privacy. My kitchen area on the passenger side generally takes...
